BF, gloating on the fact that you were "right" and publically shoving it in the face of someone who said it wouldn't happen is what 8 year olds do, not what is to be expected of a Consul.

Furthermore, there was really no way of knowing if GCA was going to abandon or not. Not only was it not necessarily based on GCA's past actions, it was simply militarlily a very stupid thing to do with the knowledge we had at hand. Tell me, is there a better defensive spot where GCA could have mounted a setadfast defense? Nope. If GCA knows they're not going to win then insetead of razing cities to the last one, you take a stand and hope the enemy incurrs in casualties. Abandoning catch, unless they have some other brilliant strategy, was just plain dumb.

We can predict things based on what we would do, we can predict things based on what they have been doing, but we can never predect stupidity on that scale.

Please read my posts more clearly and not with your own slant/dislike of me! You are a moron, and yes I called you a moron since you feel it's ok to call me a "child". He did the same thing but with different words. I'm so sorry if I'm not quite as elegant as F-P with my choice of words. I call it like it is. If you or anyone else can't take a few "I told you so's" then you have thin skin and should not argue with others. If you make a bold statement, such as F-P did you have to be prepared to back it up and to also take the fallout when you statement proves false, for whatever reasons. That said, I can certainly see why F-P thought GCA would not abondon. But, F-P failed to understand how GCA's hatred of Apolyton will cause them to do things in a non-logical manner. Yes, it may have cost us more in lost units to take Catch, but they figure that ANY city that we capture of theirs flies in the face of theri ealier staements concerning the outcome of the war.

BS!!! I said it very clearly in many posts and in one up above, I DID KNOW they would abandon Catchopolis IF they figured we had a chance to take Catchopolis. It WAS realy that simple. Why do you and anyone else have such a problem understanding the level of resentment GCA has for us? Take a look at this link, it explains better than I can.

Bologna!! It was not stupid per se if you base GCA's actions on their statement they sent to us after our declaration of war. They knew from the begining that they could not win this war; but their goal has and always will be to prevent us from making as many gains from them as they can. That means abandoning any and all cities. I would not doubt that they will disband their very last city if they could. I assure you they will try to make sure that it is at a size 1 so that it auto-razes when we invade it. The odds were on their side to hold Catch, no doubt about that. But, is that their primary concern? No, keeping us from gaining anything that they can prevent us from is their narrow minded goal.

Now, I hope that the rest of the team can see what GCA is all about and try to make decisions for our future based upon GCA's past.

Holy crap. Can we all just die now please? Arguing about who was ultimately right gets us no where.

I know of only a few people who were sure Catch would be abandoned. I myself thought they would turtle, that is the best defensive spot they have. They proved many of us wrong.

That is over now. We have new things to consider and can't be bothered by this in-team fighting.

First and foremost, we need to consider E_T's idea that GCA might be preparing a galley with a settler to flea the continent. The most logical assumption of that is that they will try to settle on the island near CFC. (Perhaps they can prove us wrong there too, who knows).

I will send a letter to OctavianX shortly asking about their naval preparations and make them aware of this theory.

GCA hiding out on some other continent can be detrimental to us since they will most likely not want to make peace.

If GCA decides to go to another island and stay there at war with us, I call foul. This would be blatant exploit of war weariness and would respectully ask mongoose for a ruling against this.

In fact, it would be a good idea to talk to mongoose asap about this before GCA gets their idea. I have him on MSN so if people agree I can chat about this with him next time.

No, they have a right to survive. It's not a foul if they move to another island, settle there and continue to stay at War with us. It's up to us to load our troops, find their whereabout and kill them off.

Our best approach right now is to find out their whereabouts. We can achieve that by :
1. building a few galleys ourselves, and recce the coast
2. urge CFC to build galleys to see if GCA resettle on the small islands SW of CFC
3. ask CFC and CGN to look out for GCA galleys

It's only a foul, IMHO, if they load the Settler into the galley, stay in the waters to achieve immortality.

They are Dunkirking to that one Island. They will settle there, keep anyone from landing and build their War Elephants, when they are ready.

Tired of ads?

I don't care if they go halfway around the world to a 1-tile tundra island, the fact is that it is extremely easy to pull an exodus that way, and suing it merely to punish the other for war weariness is wrong (at least in my point of view).

As long as they build a city and don't stay at sea with a settler I think it is legit. We might ask CFC if they have any Galleys and could they land there, maybe even build a city and keep GCA from getting a foothold on it.
