I put the bar through my 7.
I put a bar through my z.
I put a loop in the base of my 2.
I write my x like a two c's back to back.
I don't close my 4 at the top.

I do those out of habit because when doing lots of maths it helps to be distinct with your numbers/letters you have written. That said my 4 and my y ended up looking very similar.

- the horizontal bar of my 2 looks more like a ~
- my 4 is an H without the upperright and lowerleft vertical bars
- my 7 has a horizontal bar while the upper horizontal bar is slightly curved
- my 8 looks more like an upside down &
