Hate crime is suddenly fashionable and reported in the media more.
Is it actually more frequent? Is it simply an excuse for anti social behaviour or to belong to the group identified as opposing the target group? Is it an increasing problem? Not clear.
There does seem to be an anti-semitism problem in France but Time is making a big jump to connect other reports of hate crime into some europe wide conspiracy or degeneration. This sounds more like "lets make our american readers feel safe at home with a Republican government to protect them".

This is Americas fault. You've been calling as wimps for so long, that our youth is fed up with it and the minorities pay for it. Just kidding.
Muslims, arabs are number one target of hate and all that, so I don't know how we would blame Israel for anything? Right?
THere are punks everywhere, honestly I have not seen ANY indication of any kind of rising level of hatred against minortities in Europe. But I live in remote place when thinking about Europe, so I wouldn't know. News don't indicate so.
Anyway, the first case in that link is minority hassling with another minority. If Jews can be called minority that is. Wasn't those bombings in Istanbul made by locals? That's not attack against minority?
Someone discovered a large swatstika painted to some wall? Is this alarming, honestly?
Few attacks on synagogues in France, granted this is a legit attack against minority.
Someone posting a message that is racist on the internet? Give me a break.
White power band playing in Czech? There are no white power bands in the US? Is this something new?
I stopped reading after this... I don't know if they were actually cases that should be worrying.
Sure, this cases are not to be taken too lightly, but come on, is this actually news? I don't think this makes Europe once again a place of true racism and hatred. It's racist and full of hatred just like everyone else is. I dont' know why we have to be singled out. And again we are talking about few countries. Nationalism and neo nazis have gained some ground in Eastern Europe and Russia. This has been reported in the news several times.
German neo nazis have been found to be planning some strikes but were caught by the police. Allegedly they have established alliance with muslim terrorists because they both have common enemy (Americans, Jews).

Damn it, I can't get it right now can I?
What I MEAN TO SAY is, that sure there are attacks going on every now and then, but it's been like this always in Europe. I don't think it's really rising, people are just reporting more. But this is only my feeling, this no one can know for sure.
People are ganging up slowly. I do see more new and bigger problems in near future though. There are more poor people and gaps between poor and poorer. Ethnic gangs are more, and they are clashing each other, and in the future they can get wilder.. if things like unemployment etc go on, I can see even more frustration being released on minorities. So, we should get these people on leash, before we really do have news about it.

Well, with enough anecdotes, half-truths, emotive language, selective use of statistics and generalisations, you can "prove" just about anything.
This article, and most of the others like it, is complete and utter nonsense. I don't really blame Americans for falling for the notion that Europe is turning into the fourth Reich. I mean, the coverage is constant, and if you repeat a lie often enough, people will start to believe it.

But there needs to be a differantiation.
You have the UK, the only country in Europe which has raciar riots...
You have France where they have incidents of muslims harrasing French of jewish religion.
You have Greece which is one of the most xenophobic propably due to the rapidest influx of immigrant waves ever in europe but which such cases are still fortunately a minority and the exception
You have Germany where grave incidents have ocured such as the burning down of immigrant shelter buildings and the deaths of people
You have Denmarkwith almost "intitutionalized" xenophobia
etc etc
It's not all the same there isn't "one" europe each country has problems of their own.
