There have been a few online "critics" of the movie claiming the facts weren't facts and that the movie should be fiction. I felt the need to bring this to Apolyton's attention because there are a lot of individuals with the mistaken opinion that Michael Moore's movie is factually inaccurate. I suspect such people can't accept the truth and are stuck in denial, or they just blindly dismiss anyone who holds different opinions from their own. But regardless, Michael Moore has written a response to these critics. He's provided his sources.
So read on Michael Moore critics. I won't hold it against you if you say you were wrong.

The Truth: Heston took his NRA show to Denver and did and said exactly what we recounted. From the end of my narration setting up Heston's speech in Denver, with my words, "a big pro-gun rally," every word out of Charlton Heston's mouth was uttered right there in Denver, just 10 days after the Columbine tragedy. But don't take my word – read the transcript of his whole speech. Heston devotes the entire speech to challenging the Denver mayor and mocking the mayor's pleas that the NRA "don't come here." Far from deliberately editing the film to make Heston look worse, I chose to leave most of this out and not make Heston look as evil as he actually was.

I won't deny that Michael Moore has strong "liberal views" or that his movies and books hold his "biased" views. But facts are facts folks. You can accept reality or continue to stick your collective heads in the sand.

The problem with the statistics in MM's film aren't that they are factually inaccurate, but that they are irrelevant. So what if there are countries with lower gun ownership and less gun violence. There are also countries with less gun ownership and more gun violence, and countries with more gun ownership and less gun violence.
