One must wonder how intelligent it is for someone to read a thread started by someone who is on their ignore list.

Put an end to popups!

He just wanted to show off that you're his enemy, that's my guess.

Going to thread and announcing that the thread starter is on your ignore raises some questions, but to be honest, I've done it to Zylka, once.

Apart from that exception, I don't click on the links to threads made by either Zylka nor Slowwhand.

It helps in debating and argument. After all 'logic' is part of philosophy as is 'ethics'.

Obviously you don't really get the ignore feature either... Agathon can't read your sniping. So why try to antagonize somebody who can't read what you say?

I've got sig material

quote:
the art of bullshit. I'm just good at it. - Asher

And I must agree that Agathon does not seem to behave like the rational educated adult he tries to portray himself to be.

And still, Asher, I seriously question the quality of your philosophy lessons. It's not that easy of a subject. And it is a very interesting and important subject, so I really don't get why are you so proud that you have skipped most lessons.

You've said it yourself, that the degree is supposed to get you a diverse education and make you more enlightened. And then you go and tell us how proud you are that you managed to avoid all that. Doesn't sound so good

My ass it's not that easy of a subject. It may be important to some people, just like remedical English is important to some people.

It says something about the important and usefulness of a course if you can skip 95% of the lectures and pull an A-.

How did I avoid it if I've taken the courses? It's just that I find the Philosophy classes are a complete joke, as are the people who teach them.

And I agree that the quality of instruction may have been an issue, I was taught by a fellow named Dr. Brian Grant, from New Zealand, who happens to have been one of Lee Churchman's (Agathon) Masters professor.

Intro Philosophy courses are very easy, Siro. They don't go much deeper than Poly Sci courses. When you get deeper into the subject do they become more difficult, especially in reading Kant and Hegel .

So are intro to physics courses, yet it seems to me that philosophy students have more trouble with physics than physics students have with philosophy.

I've had two Philosophy courses now, and in both ones I've never had a mark lower than an A-.

The other one was Philosophy of Logic -- and the Philosophy majors really struggled with that class, though the majority of the class was CompSci majors and laughed at the concept of spending two weeks explaining boolean logic to dumbfounded Philosophers.
