Sparta -- still trying to set up our game. I've tried emailing you a few times over this last week, but haven't heard back. Please get back to me with what time would work best for you. I am usually available after 7 p.m. (Pacific) or on the weekends.

Other details about the match between Shogun Gunner and myself:
- I built the Statue of Zeus
- the Celts built the Colossus
- Celts are working on the Oracle
- Shogun Gunner is working on the Great Wall (prebuild?)
Shogun Gunner took out the Mongols (who are between us) with immortals and continued toward me with a few immortals on land and 2 more on a galley.
I changed from "weak" to "average" (Mil Advisor) to Shogun Gunner sometime around when he was finishing up his assault on the Mongols (near my border). I had been QUITE scared previous to that taking place that he'd show up on my doorstep with 8-10 immortals before I could finish the Statue of Zeus and devote Carthage back to military production.
I held a chokepoint city connecting my landmass with the Mongol/Persian landmass. The chokepoint city is on a hill and has both walls and a barracks. It also had a road leading west 1 tile toward the Mongols' nearest city.
Shogun gunner's first immortal I saw I killed using 4 cats (bombarding it down a few pips) and a vet swordsman (promoted to elite!). After this action, the Mil Advisor showed me for the first time as "strong" (previously "weak", then "average") to Shogun Gunner.
I saw him load up 2 other immortals on a galley and move it to my southern shore, but he did not land (the city he saw had a veteran swordsman fortified in it, out of his vision was the other half of my army, including one of the first ancient cavalry from the Status of Zeus ).
My first galley in the theatre attacked his galley (both were 3/3) and I lost my galley and his supergalley didn't take a single hp loss.
I had already poprushed a few more galleys and used the chokepoint city to move more to that side. I attacked his galley off my shore with 2 of my galleys, losing the first one (reducing him to 1 hp) and killing him with the second (I took no hp loss that time). I have no idea if he'd managed to offload those 2 immortals before I killed him, but I suspect he did so (if not, COOL!).
I then built more pieces of road headed West toward Persian-occupied Mongol territory. Then I stacked my vanguard force of roughly 4 NM, 5-6 swords, 2 ancient cavalry, and 4 cats and moved it toward him. That force has been moving forward as his immortals retreat off of mountain tiles heading south toward his core for several turns now. Of course, I have additional units behind that, as I'm sure the reason he's retreating immortals off of mountain tiles is that he probably has more of the suckers being built to the south in his core.
I'm only about 1/4-1/3 of the way across a whole lot of scorched earth (former Mongol territory) between my core and his core, so this game is far from over. There's still plenty of land (and thus time) in which to stop my advance.
As Shogun Gunner said, we'll continue tomorrow.

Yes, Beta - it was a very good game. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Rome for MP games, and I was glad when you picked them. You played them well, however, and reminded me that they can indeed be a good choice.
With regard to the game situation:
As I mentioned earlier, Beta had taken out the Mongol AI. This left me sandwiched between Beta's Romans and the Zulu AI. I had pretty good chokepoints with both of them, which made it difficult for them to get to my interior cities. I also had the tech lead, a strong economy, and CAVALRY.
It did start to drain on me a bit trying to fight a war on two fronts (we all know the Zulu aren't going to play "peaceful builder"). I secured my chokepoint cities with Rome with strong defense and then focused my attention on the Zulu front. Once I dedicated myself to them, I was easily able to overrun the tech-and resource-deprived Zulus.
As Beta mentioned, this caught him by surprise. I was then able to focus my attention solely on Beta and started sending stacks of cavalry deep into his territory, where the cities were more lightly defended (and some were even empty!)
Beta fought off my first couple intrusions into his territory, but I think they left him weakened and he started to see the writing on the wall.
Again, it was a well-played game. I had fun!

Hi,
that's ok if you are a bit late. Let's say the game is going to be at 2pm then. Have a look at your emails, I,ll email you some infos and questions...
sorry that I have to set a precise time but I have a very young baby home and I need somebody to take care while I'm playing, so I can't just wait for you online for hours (which I would do in other conditions...)
See you.

Just few questions
1. does everybody has Conquest installed and is it necessary to play the tournament. (I have it and I'll download the patch today)
2. I've played only once MP. How do you meet a precise person. do you just see this person in the MP screen of Civé
3. How do you chat while playing. There's a key (i know) that allows mwe to post messages but I never found it (keep in minc while answering that not everybody has the US keybord). so I don't want to know where is the key on the keybord but which symbol is it producing when you hit it. So I can find it.
thanks to all...

Hi
Me and McMeadows met today to play and couldn't. He couln't see the games I was setting as a host. I could see his games (when he was a host) but we couldn't launch when ready.
We both have Win XP, and DSL connection. We are not expert with computers and especially firewalls. Could it be this and how do we solve the problem. Please do explain us here because I couldn't really understand the technical stuff at Gamespy.
Maybe it's something else.
We both have Conquest and the 1.12 patch. (Just verifying something : we both have the european version of C3C but installed in English, so the patch should work... ?)
and besides, why isn't there any Turnless option (only turn based and simultaneous)?
Jeff
please help

Apparently we both disabled the built-in firewall of XP. So it's not this. I know now that I have a router. Probably a Cisco (which one i don't know. I have a Belgacom ADSL modem, can you tall me). I don't know what I can do with this...
It's probably the same for McMeadows..
Thanks for help...

Hi
Due to the mass of problems both McMeadows and me are facing, we'd like to withdraw from the tournament. It's not possible to play at all...
thanks and sorry for the troubles. If we find solutions, we'll register for another tournament maybe.

My opponent has yet to respond to my attempts to set up a game. Does that mean I advance to the next round?
