Well, it's time to make predictions about 2004 and then mercifully forget about them when they go spectacularily wrong.
Israelis and Palestinians will continue to kill each other.
EU will engage in a lot of bureaucratic ****ery and infighting and won't get anything done.
Some far-right group will, once again, do unexpectedly well in an European election. The European press gabbles and paints Hitlers on the wall.
2004 will prove that there's no limit to Michael Jackson's crazy. When the trial really gets underway the tabloids will be having multiple orgasms each day.
Big-time celebrity deaths will continue. I peg Reagan and the Pope.
No new Bushfire wars, at least this year. Plenty of rhetoric about Syria, Iran and North Korea, but no particular action.
In the end, the moderate Democrats unite and manage to prevent Dean from taking the nomination. Genl. Clark will take the nomination and go on to lose to Bush by 5-8 points. Everybody starts getting ready for 2008, where the GOP will have an open primary and the Dems prepare for the all-time battle of titans - Hillary vs. Gore vs. Dean, who still has his supporter networks going in one form or the other.
2004 will be a mixed year for music - there's going to be a plenty of brilliant under-the-radar stuff, but mainstream music will continue to be complete crap. BRITNAYpop rules the day, and rap metal and pop-punk will ground on with vengeance in the teen male demographic. However, the signs will start showing up - 2005 will change it all.
There'll be technical inventions and stuff like that, but nothing really life-changing.

Greece Says It's Met '03 Goals for Games

ATHENS (Reuters) - Greece has completed all the work planned for this year ahead of the 2004 Olympic Games (news - web sites), with some projects ahead of schedule, the country's top Olympics official said on Wednesday.

"We succeeded with intensive efforts and co-ordinated and substantial work to complete 100 percent of our program for 2003," Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos told daily newspaper Naftemboriki.
"In some cases we exceeded 100 percent by speeding up projects and our actions," he added.
International Olympic Committee (news - web sites) (IOC) President Jacques Rogge said on Tuesday the IOC was confident preparations were on course, even though organizers in Athens would still face "tough days" in the eight months leading up to the Games.
Greece, which fell badly behind in its preparations three years ago, has increased efforts to make up for lost time, earning praise from top Olympics officials.
IOC inspectors, however, have repeatedly warned that timetables remained tight and that organizers needed to keep up the momentum.
now those guys are funny. they worry tooooo much. we have it uneder control. they need to relax a little bit. LAST MINUTE people, and its more fun that way

Dean will be forgotten by 2008... Gore is already out of the picture, plus he ENDORSED dean, he's not going to run against him. Hillary will be the hands down winner of the nomiation in 2008. And she will win the presidency, ushering in a 1000 years of darkness.
predictions:
1. Osama bin Laden is mysteriously captured shortly before presidential elections
2. "economy" picks up (rich corporations do well, dow goes up) while millions of americans get poorer, lose their jobs, and settle for lower paying, more expendable jobs. But, because the media keeps telling them the ECONOMY IS GOOD, they still ignorantly vote Bush.
3. 2004 election is close no matter who is the nomination... Dem's cry foul again... ***** and moan for 4 more years
4. Reagan dies, Repukes try to get him put on Mount Rushmore
5. Pope dies, new pope lobbies for more lax laws against man-boy sex.
6. Sava doesn't survive 2004. Assuming I don't win the lottery, find a dream job, or fall in love with a GORGEOUS female... I take my own life before the year's end. Curiousity about the 2004 elections might keep me around long enough. When I was 15, I vowed I would commit suicide at 24 if my life sucked... and it does
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
