Why do women put up with this sort of stuff? |
Think about TV commercials, magazines and all the other advertising media trying to sell women pills, potions, make-up, clothes and so on to make them feel "better" about themselves.
Soap operas, drama on TV, books, etc. all showing women with problems of one sort or another.
Basically it is about maintaining low self esteem on the part of quite a large number of women. Misogynists are simply adept at spotting women with low self esteem who will allow themselves to be treated badly and prepared to take advantage of that ability.
The truth the feminists don't want you to know is that men don't oppress women, women do (mostly to themselves).
The women who are good at it are usually found working for or running companies selling products to women.

(Warning: I'm about to speak in generalities here. Yes, I know that all women aren't like this. Please don't bother us by stating the obvious.)
Women... like decisivness. They like men that, if not "take charge", are at least confident enough to express their opinion without resorting to finishing their sentences with an expression of doubt. For example...
[wrong]
W. "Where do you want to go to eat?"
M. "I don't care. Wherever you want, honey."
W. "I can't make up my mind. We'll go wherever you want."
M. "I guess we can go get pizza, if that's ok with you."
W. "If that's what you want, that's fine."
.... (a few minutes later)
M. "Are you sure you want pizza?"
W. (inside)
(I felt slimy just typing that...)
[right]
W. "Where do you want to eat?"
M. "Hm... I'm thinking pizza sounds good. How about you?"
W. "Pizza sounds fine. Let's go to that new pizza place over on Evanston Rd."
Men like your buddy/co-worker are slime, but they're also decisive and know (and go after) what they want. There's something about that attitude that appeals to women, even if that attitude extends into boorishness, sometimes even if it descends into abuse*.
I'm thinking a number of his g/f's are initially attracted by the decisiveness and the pursuit... but it does seem that they don't stay around that long. Perhaps some of his g/f's think they can change him... and then realize their mistakes.
*Do we have any (ex-)cops on this board, one who has walked the beat? They see battered women all the time and they'll tell you that it is very, very hard to get a woman (even if she just had the living crap beat out of her) to file a formal complaint against their man.
