Let me throw in my two eurocents here.
First of all, I think I was the one taking Vondrack's suggestion of naming after NYE and coming up with the name of "N.Y.E. D.C.". Here, D.C. is both a pun (towards Washington DC), plus it stands for "District of Catchopolis" (as pointed out by Beta).
Secondly, I, like MZ, am no fan of American Nationalism. However, I see the naming as a joke, not as referring to the American nation or something.
So, I voted "yes".
But, since "N.Y.E. D.C." is not going to make it in this poll, we need to think of something better. "Better" in the sense that more people on this team feel good about it. It is, after all, our new capital, and, like it or not, that fact matters to many people. It matters enough that naming it after a specific person, no matter his contribution to the team, is not appropriate.
Our current capital is named "Apolyton". It is a good name, since it refers to the team, and all people present here are a member of that team (NYE too  ). Thus, it is named after all people who have (or may have not) made an effort.
Our current capital is soon to be abandoned. Doing so, the name will be erased from the map. This is a pity.
I therefore think that the new capital should be named after something that refers to the team. I've put some thought into this, and have come up with a name that will bring back the honor to the one thing we all have in common: Apolyton.
For those of you who are curious: scroll down and see that I've put the letters of Apolyton in a different order to form...
PLOTONYA !

erm, not as bad as, say Notylopa , but...
good effort, but it doesn't roll off the tongue.
Unfortunately when I think of possible capital names, they've already been used. I think Providence is a great name, full of grandeur and divine right, but then you have Providence, RI, which, I've heard to be...not so great. I can only think of either fiction names (which are dangerously theme based) or real life cities that don't fit us. I think of Carthage. I think St. Augustine would be a sly name for a capital. Then I think, oh, well, there's that place in Florida....
