I just saw on CNN that the woman announced to the Associated Press that there was no affair between her and Kerry, and that the press has done nothing but cause her and her family excessive embarrassment over something that never happened.

I saw that too. They said Drudge got the story from other media looking into a rumor. They did not mention Drudge's statement that he got the story from Clark (or a Clark aid).

NOONE other than you right now has tried to claim that Drudge got the entire story from a Clark aid. At the best, Drudge tried to use a quote from Clark as support of what he had found, possibly suggesting that the quote suggesting that Kerry had a hidden intern scandal got him to find the story in the first place. (The original quote was definately vague rather than specific.)
