It was not a girlie winger but mister Brennan himself playing number 5. The problem with the physio is that he made an error too many.

In the first twenty minutes, when the Stade Toulousain was playing very well, the Scottish physios were breaking the rythm by entering the field each time the referee whistled and were "healing" perfectly healthy players on the field. The crowd and the players were becoming angry about this when one of the said physios on the border of the field kicked a ball sent outside of the field so that the Toulousains could not play it quickly as they intended to.

Brennan was passing by and reacted with anger.

It was reported here that Cedric Heymans started the whole thing, and that well-known grenouille Trevor Brennan - names don't get much more French than Trevor Brennan, do they? - arrived wanting to finish it.

Hmmm ... Morning all.

I would've thought we would've been at least one thread further on by now but I guess there hasn't been a lot to spam about lately with the S12 being a little lackluster this season.
Not that there's been any other rugby worthy of the name worth watching anyway.

I'm utterly run off my feet doing the work of several people at present so I won't be around much for a while.
On a brighter note though (assuming that the above isn't already bright enough? ) the much-awaited Pink Panther DVD collection finally became mine a couple of days ago.
I don't know why I brought that up but, at the time, it reminded me of Tamerlin for some reason.

And they've asked me to tell you to stop it! They're perfectly capable of doing it themselves!

The French version of The Pink Panther?! The whole point of the verbal humour was Clouseau's mangling of English! Which would have been rendered meaningless in French!

His mistake was getting on the wrong side of a number of senior players by not letting them run the ship as much as they had in the past.

I'm suprised nobody warned him about that before he started. Or perhaps they did but he went against the advice...

The ball was thrown to Carlos, who double-handed it straight over his head - without looking - towards one of his backs, with the Bulls thundering towards the player. What possesses him? He got away with it - and a few other similarly arrogant things - today. But sooner or later it's going to cost him and the team. That said, a couple of his contributions were sheer genius.

For some reason, the Bulls opted against their strength - exploiting their size and strength - and spent too much time trying to play the Blues at their own game. Big mistake. When they applied pressure through their size and strength, the Blues looked shaky. Ultimately, they couldn't contain Carlos and Rokococo. Regardless, the Blues aren't the complete outfit they were last season. They're the Carlos and Rokococo high-risk rugby show.

Yet another Blues game I didn't get to see.

Thanks for the summary though.

Brumbies 50 -d- Highlanders 18

The Brumbies, in this form, are what the Blues were last season - the complete outfit. Forever potent, controlled risk. The off-field dramas didn't bother them. As commentator Greg Martin opined: those sorts of things rarely bother sportsmen on the field because professional sportsmen only ever think of themselves first, second and third.

Yes, the Brumbies looked impressive from the starting whistle. The Highlanders scored first, but the Brumbies always looked better. Looks like the end of the Highlander's chances for getting into the final four.

BTW, I hear Havak's beloved Queen Betty popped over to Toulouse recently. I take it you went out to strew rose petals in her path? Took your coat off and placed it over a puddle so she wouldn't get her tootsies wet?

Oh, and I read this morning that one of the huge boring machines used to dig the Channel Tunnel was auctioned on eBay for $96,000. Just imagine - for $96,000.01, you could have put it in the corner of your living room as a conversation starter.

Though I would have withdrawn it as fast as possible as soon as she would have put a foot on it.

More seriously I hate when some pundits are coming into a city and the officials are paralysing a whole city centre (see how I have avoided to write it the american way) as if they were gods.

He's such an idiot! The other night he was lying on the floor beside the coffee table. He launched into a series of almighty sneezes. The first sneeze caused him to hit his head on the coffee table. With every subsequent sneeze, he continued to hit his head on the coffee table! It was the closest thing I've seen to a real life Homer Simpson.

And we're soon to be in need of a new thread and a new title. I propose:

Sadly she goes down well in France – having been whipped to learn the language by her nanny. That’s another paradox of the majority of the French I’ve talked to – they love royalty just so long as it is other peoples and goes home after a while.

I caught most of ACT versus Highlanders on Friday. S12 has a few problems now I would say – the gulf in class from top of the pile to bottom is becoming immense. But the gulf in class from first to second would worry me much more if I was trying to promote the tournament as the world’s best.

The table at the moment has a very strange feel to it – I’m amazed where Blues and Crusaders are languishing! Looks like Carlos is ours for the asking?

Nothing much on internationally until November Finbar? What? When the Wallabies will have lost twice to an under strength England by then?

Interesting QFs in the European cup – some really cracking games. It’s always good to see Llanelli lose – their coach can go whine and moan a little more about another side beating his boyos. Munster were hugely lucky against SF – but with a home semi final they have every chance I guess. The form sides were Wasps and Toulouse – though the Scots hardly really tested Tamerlin’s boys. Wasps were awesome in taking apart Gloucester – if they had a home semi I’d make them clear favourites. As it is I guess Toulouse must be. Tamerlin must be happy.

At the prospect of facing either an English team in it's first final - or an Irish team with a history of losing them - so you should be.

Who beat the Munster last year, huh?

The English clubs are another matter (though I think that the Munster is once again the team to beat), I am still convinced that their technical level is still better than the technical skill of the French clubs. The only thing that sometimes prevents them to shine in the H-Cup is that their game is often too classical. How many times have I seen a brilliant attack avorted because the half-scrum or the fly-half did not dare to send the ball to the wings where the defenders were outnumbered?

It always has been immense. A couple of the Bok teams are off the bottom this season but only on sufferance.

Abysmal early season form from both of them. One of them will make the finals. Possibly even both if NSW don't pull their fingers out. The Crusaders shouldn't have lost on the weekend and the Blues are playing kamikaze stuff as if they have nothing to lose.
