What was the min last year? No one missed it during all star week although I sure was worried since Dontrelle almost missed his start for that week because of playing in the all star game. We can avoid that problem by just not starting all star pitchers that one week...

But 14 IP is two 5 inning starts and relief pitchers making up the difference. How about bumping it to 15, add "hits" to the batting side, and cross our fingers?

Yeah, that's the tough one...which pitching category? Ugh... We need one to reward starters if possible. Too bad they don't have a category for "quality starts", like 6+ innings with 3 earned runs or less.

We could go with something like "ground into double plays" (GIDP), that would certainly reward more innings pitched. When you think about it, double plays are just as valid if not moreso than K's. Either that or innings pitched...

Damn, I'm trying to quit cigs for the 2nd time in 2 weeks and it's tough...

TB allowed, holds, or GIDP (which I haven't really considered before... although wouldn't this penalize someone who takes an assload of flyball SPs? Then again, flyballers get more XBH against anyways...)

Actually, if we wanted to discourage people from "starting" a bunch of relievers, add Games Started.

I like Games Started too, but what about Innings Pitched? It is a pretty straightforward stat that rewards the team with the most good starters.

I like the idea of Innings Pitched. That helps get around the use-one-or-two-really-good-starters strategy, while rewarding long relievers as well.

Oh, and we also have to come up with a draft order. In the past, I'd just written everyone's name down on a scrap of paper, thrown it in a bag and picked them one by one. Do we want to do it the same way?

I drew up an Excel spreadsheet and used the "Random Number Generator" function (=RAND()). To come up with an order, just select the entire thing and sort by Column B. (it draws up new random numbers each time you do something like sort, but it sorts by the PREVIOUS random numbers. Keep that in mind. )

I got 3rd? Cool... So do we add IP and/or GIDP? Both will help deter the relief strategy. I vote for IP and if we need a fill in pitching category, then I vote for GIDP. Games started (GS) really does fit into Imran's dislike of meaningless stats, any moron can start but it takes some talent to get into the 6th inning and beyond.

We have at least 3 votes so far for IP and Vlad wants another stat to reflect more starts so I'll count him as a 4th vote for IP. How about it Imran, IP or GS in addition to a minimum of 15 IP per week to nullify the reliever strategy?

Who or what is "World Conquest Game"? Is that you Jdd?
