I'm for the idea, because it seems people want it, but I personally wouldn't use it. I don't have Paypal, a credit card, my bank account is soon to be changed, and I don't mind popups that much.

From my perspective, there are two main considerations in favor of an ad free alternative:

--I hate the popup, in my face, nuisance, annoyance, distractions.

--They slooow things to a crawl, even with a mega highspeed connection, because of the numerous ad-server handoffs that delay page loading. No other site is so consistently bogged down like this one.

If there was an alternative, with a special access cookie or something, that was both fast and clean, I would be very interested.

I do not understand the delay; if this is to be done, let it be done quickly. If not, then toast this thread and let's all move on. Youse guys have shown enough thigh to make further inaction and silence on your part a cruel tease.
