Not really. At a certain point you really don't get much value out of having the elderly work. Besides, all other things being equal, Black men don't live as long as rest of us (average age of death is 67, IIRC)., and it would be unfair to deny them a retirement just because I'm gonna live to be 100. Nor could we allow some people to retire earlier if they're Black.

Some people die at the age of 20. Under the same logic, it would be unfair to them if SS wouldn't start at the age of 18.

For no group of people is the average age of death 20. If one whole social catagory of people (Black Men) only live to be, on average, 67, and retirement age is raised to 67.5, then on average, Black men will not ever see retirement. Not the occassional unlucky Black man, the average Black man.

I think we have a right to have a decade or two of retirement. We worked hard all our lives building this world, we should be able to sit back an enjoy it for a time, and not just a handful of years so some gnome can justify cutting taxes.
