I hope all is well in the Shining Spires of Tabemonia. Your Civ continues as an inspiration to us all. :belch:
Speaking of Shining Spires, do you have Monotheism yet? Just curious, as I noticed it has devalued a lot. Any idea how your rivals are getting on in the upper branch over there? Python should be within a few turns of Monotheism by now, I expect.
Hopefully our Civs will both be able to reap the rewards of the Gunpowder tech. I wasn't sure what our contribution entitles us to vis-a-vis supplying CoD's ally, Les Pythons. Would it be reasonable for CoD to be able to exercise commercial rights on our continent of Comedia (ie: supply Python) while Tabemono enjoys all commercial rights for Gunpowder on the Large Continent (does it have a name yet, btw?) for perpetuity?
Finally, what are your research plans? Would you be interested in us continuing to fund progress on the lower branch? Or would you be interested in funding our research, or did you have other ideas? We have the turn and a Library is hovering a turn from completion. Might be nice to know whether to switch it to a Mkt before I play the turn
Regards,
-Cort |
I think we'll have to fund research from now on, if even that; even with Leo's, Rider upgrades will be costly.

Kloreep, have you been recieving my PM's re: Invention and SS?

Still haven't responded.
UnO: To sum up the situation, we own, IIRC, 1/3rd of Invention after having payed for that much of the cost.
We then researched GP; how much we own of that is a little more up in the air... but I'd say we own 2/3rds of that, considering Python has yet to pay us for it. (Big mess there. CoD communicated to us Python would be part of the deal, but then we forgot we had Mono already from Sunshine... long story short, we gave GP to Python, but have not received anything for it.) The other 1/3rd of GP was payed for by CoD.
Anyway, sent back in response:

quote: Hello there.
Glad to be working with you again, may it prove more productive in this game...
Anyhow, it would appear that the silly builderers on the team have made a little bit of a confusing mess, and it's up to we diplomats to fix it.
Now, I've been mostly absent for a little while due to RL, but I believe the situation is as follows:
We have invention, 3 teams shared the cost equally.
We want to trade it to SS, and all benefit.
SS, from what I understand, wants to trade it for Theology.
Now, I'm a gonna assume that SS will slap on a NTA to whoever trades it.
That leaves us with a few options:
1. One team trades with SS, obtains Theology, and breaks the NTA.
Positives: Gets Theology quick, possibly able to compete with SS for tech lead on upper tree.
Negatives: broken treaty.
2. One team trades with SS, obtains Theology, and begins research on top tree with financial help from others, gifts both techs when able.
Positives: Gets Theology, competes for tech supremacy.
Negatives: Allot of trust required to give one team a tech lead and the cash to really screw the others.
3. One team trades for Theology, gifts when NTA runs out, alliance continues dominance of bottom tree.
Positives, gets everyone Theology, if somewhat late.
Negatives: 2 teams may not like that idea.

Diplomatically, #2 is the best.
Realistically, I do not know where SS stands on trading with one of you guys, and we are not going to be researching for a while.
I am want to suggest #1, hoping for no NTA to come up. However, I need to know the nature of discussions with SS on the other continent. If one of you can say you've been researching Theology, it may be the best option. I also do not know that my team would go for that whole idea.
#3, while the least attractive, may be what we are left with.
Thoughts?

quote: Subj: PTWDG II: Theo-Inv-Gun Trade Proposal
To: Arrian, Cort Haus
I propose the following as a Sunshine-Tabemono-CoD-Python trade.
Please correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I believe that Tabemono, Python, and CoD each own 1/3rd of Invention, having payed 1/3rd of the cost each. (I know we have 1/3rd of Invention, but I don't remember if CoD and Python invested equally or not. BTW, you guys didn't trade Invention to MAST and LL, did you?)
CoD payed 1/3rd of the cost of Gunpowder and thus owns 1/3rd of it. Python received it but didn't pay us (Monotheism screwup on our part). I propose we break up Gunpowder rights, giving CoD the rights to Python and Monkey, and Tabemono the rights to Sunshine, MAST, and Latin Lover. CoD can collect payment from Python if they feel necessary (I guess that would be about 7 tech points worth of gold, but it would be between you two). Tabemono can sell Gunpowder on its own continent.
This would mean the Theology trade would work as follows:
Python pays Sunshine 14 2/3 tech points (1/3rd of Invention); they owe Sunshine compensation for 25 1/3 tech points. (Roughly 100 gold, dividing by 7.)
CoD also pays Sunshine 14 2/3 tech points (1/3rd of Invention); they too owe Sunshine compensation for 25 1/3 tech points. (Roughly 100 gold, dividing by 7.)
We pay Sunshine 62 2/3 tech points (Gunpowder and 1/3rd of Invention); Sunshine owes us 22 2/3 tech points. (Roughly 85 gold, dividing by 7.)
Strict NTA: All parties agree not to trade the techs received to other civs.
If this is agreeable to your teams, I'll send this on to Sunshine. |
