As you guys probably know, I'm a candidate in the local elections happening at the end of the month. There is no chance whatsoever for the Commie I am to win in this diehard right-wing town, but I do the campaign nonetheless.
More often than not, people are pleased to encounter a young candidate, a 23-years-old who is involved in politics that much (regardless of my political ideas). Many people are also neutral, and don't care at all.
But I sometimes encounter some person who insults me on basis of my political beliefs. I was verbally assaulted and threatened once, by the owner of the supermarket on which's parking lot I distributed fliers.
But I am currently annoyed by someone who called me a "turncoat", a "liar" and a "demagogue" This someone is a former comrade who showed me a few things during my first years in the party - I supposed he thought of himself as my mentor.
He since left the party because he disagreed with its evolution, and joined a group of comrades disgruntled just as he was.
On the occasional encounter since I'm a candidate, he called me repeatedly a "turncoat" because I chose to stay in the party and to be active in it. Of course, he never bothered to listen to my opinion.
But what really hit the nail is when I called him because I had just recieved a paper from a disgruntled group saying they'd support the party's candidate in this one election. As soon as he heard his group supported us, he explained me it was a sound decision, that the position we currently hold must be kept etc.
The day after, it turned out, he calls me back saying I have lied to him and manipulated him, and that he won't support me at all. It turned out I mistook one disgruntled group with another
I tried to call him back, but he hung up immediately. I am pretty pissed at him right now, because I always held him with more respect than that. His behaviour is completely sectarian and stubborn, and it really annoys me to think I have thought better of such a guy

I don't know for you, but I find it pretty annoying to be treated like dirt, and not listened to at all, by someone I held in quite high regard. It is generally a displeasing feeling for human people. |

Hmm, when I first read this (Red this? ), I didn't think it was another Commie. |
Well, things get heated more often when we're on the same side, because we don't force ourselves to have a polite debate.
Besides, we commies have a long history of sectarianism, and hurling insults to the neighbour's group simply because the leader is not the same, because they don't agree with one word we hold for extremely important, or crap like that. The French far left has done a terrific job recently into rooting out this sectarianism, and they are know able to work together while acknowledging they aren't exactly the same
Besides, the Communist Party of Apolyton is very trailblazing in this regard, because we are all united under the same banner despite having revolutionaries, council commies, pure socialists, stalinists etc. If we were in real life, we'd be yelling at each other and hurling insults constantly
