Well, the Austrian Empire is finally at peace. Yes, technically we are at war with Sweden, but it appears Russia and Prussia have that small situation well in hand.
Thank you Sultan Wittlich for Seapower and thank you King Paddy for the gold, which was not required, nor expected, as you have been generous with the spoils of war and the scientific advancements your scientists have achieved.
Perhaps now, I will remove the real Austrian leader from stasis and engage my personal transporter device, in order to instanteously move through time and space to another world, another civilization....beset with new challenges and opportunity.
Shall we program our devices simultaneous to the same destination? If so, what world shall we descend upon??? Perhaps we won't be such good friends in the upcoming contest!!!! |

So the Battle for Napoleon is over, and we will see Gustav the Rogue in chains in the coming months.
Would this team of players like to:
1. Finish this game, that is slug it out between us.
2. Start a new game of this Scenario, but have a person, such as Big Free, play Napoleon.
3. Start a new game of this Scenario, but have a person, such as Big Free, play Napoleon. This time with no locked alliances...
4. Start a brand new scenario.
5. Start an Epic game.
edit: forgot to add one, so added what is now point 1. |

I'm easy also (and yes, I mean it that way) Seriously, like Wittlich, I would go with the majority.
I offer up two things to discuss:
Its possible with even a human player playing the French, France will still fall quickly under the combined weight of the allies. So, if we play this scenario again, it should be with NO locked alliances.
I'm also open to another scenario or an epic game...however...if we go this route, let's do something unique and unusual. I don't want to play a small map, average temp, average moisture, continents, 4 mil years ago, avg barbs, with everyone picking their fav civ. Let's try capture the flag, or regicide...or an unusual map situation, whatever...something creative.
Bottom line, this is a great group of PBEM'ers, so I would welcome the opportunity to play another round with you all. |

Hi,
Ive talked to Paddy a few times about an all seafaring game on a huge edited archipelogo map.
By huge I mean 300 x 300 or bigger and with vast strings of islands some closely grouped others isolated.
Of course the map has to be random or one of us will know its entire layout, but the size is easy enough to edit.
Its just a rough idea at the moment and I would appreciate feedback and suggestions on how to improve the concept.
I too have really enjoyed this game and look foeward to the next adventure with this crew |

This idea sounds faaaaantastic.
Map size is o.k. as well. We´ve got 7 seafaring civs in the game (Byzantines, Carthage, England, The Netherlands, Portugal, Scandinavia and Spain).
As you know I was only the substitute for Dialectic2003 in this game so if I may join in as a 7th player I´d love to play another game with you fantastic guys. |

I discussed another idea with Paddy a couple of weeks ago. An epic game with a slightly modified archipalego map. Modded so the AI (3?) start close to each other and have their own good island. Humans start further out, on smaller islands. All islands within reach of triremes and plenty of naval chokepoints.
Or just a good old random everything epic game |

I like a modified arch map with lots of islands, geography detail...SURPRISES (like the naval chokepoints, etc). That sounds interesting.
Maybe I haven't worked with the editor enough to know.... you can set the parameters and features without knowing how the map looks? |
quote: Posted by ChrisiusMaximus on 06-03-2004 04:14 am:
@ Shogun Im not sure about that but I bet Paddy would know! |
quote: Posted by Paddy the Scot on 06-03-2004 04:41 am:
Yes you can do all the mods with out looking at the map...
but the map is just there,,,,,
you need to turn the mini map off prior to anything...
do all your mods..
then save it all
then generate the map
then save it again,,,
then get out of there,
and not open it again... |
quote: Posted by Shogun Gunner on 06-03-2004 05:41 am:
Well, I'll cast my vote for the current idea....if everyone agrees, we could get started quickly. |
quote: Posted by Iron Jackson on 06-03-2004 06:32 am:
@ Bongo:
There is a problem with your proposal of 3 AI. Due to the fact that only 8 players can participate in a PBEM you´ll have to kick out 1 (or 2 if you count me in too) of the players currently participating. |
quote: Posted by Shogun Gunner on 06-03-2004 06:54 am:
Iron Jackson, the game is being modded, so the number of players can be increased when building the map/scenario.
I believe everyone is in agreement to keep EVERYONE together for the next game.
*EDIT* Just realized we are talking about PBEMs.... Is that 8 PBEMers a hard limit? Certainly we don't want to have any AI at the expense of players.... |
quote: Posted by bongo on 06-03-2004 09:10 am:
Have to check if there is a limit...
I was just playing with the map editor when I came up with the idea. The basic point is to give the AI an good start so we would get a hard time beating it.
This still leaves the question of what kind of game we wants. Are we just out to whop some AI ass or to play a good old 'last man standing' game? |
quote: Posted by Paddy the Scot on 06-03-2004 11:28 am:
8 is the max... which is crazy but well. hmmm |
quote: Posted by Iron Jackson on 07-03-2004 06:30 pm:
Dialectic 2003 is also interested to participate in our new game but it will take another 2 weeks until he's back in action. |
quote: Posted by Paddy the Scot on 07-03-2004 06:40 pm:
So to, Johann the wild Spaniard, would like to join a C3C game soon ...
That would give us 8 players. Montgomery Burns would be rubbing his hands together in glee, just picturing the mischieve he could get up to with such a Band of Roughnecks at his disposal
It will good to see the dialetic back in action. I am glad you stay in touch IJ.
So will 8 be a worthwhile crew to rumble the jungle in our next adventure? I like the idea myself. |
quote: Posted by ChrisiusMaximus on 07-03-2004 08:13 pm:
Im ok with that |

Can I vote for Byzantines now, sorry if I step in too quickly, but as you well know the early bird gets the worm |

Hmm, with 8 players in the game we have the problem that the 8th player won´t have a seafaring civ unless we change a trait of another civ.
I´d like to have the Vikings. |
quote: Posted by Paddy the Scot on 07-03-2004 09:48 pm:
yes that is a dilemma...
does anyone have a solution to only 7 naval civs...???
we could adjust another civ to have naval capabilities...
the hassle with this is once you enter to edit the rules, all sorts of wild and weird things can happen.
(earlier in this game, I had an invisible / Stealth Cav unit that could not be seen by either Chrisius or I. It was not until I sent a unit onto that tile that the cav unit finally appeared. It is understood that this was due to the editing of the rules...)
hmmm
I so want to be the English...
anyway, There are 7 of us here in this game at this time (that includes Dialectic) so maybe it is best if we leave it at that for the Seafaring game. |

I´d like to have the Vikings.
But, but, but, I would also be a viking
Just give me a randon civ then.... |

hahaha
well there is another theory...
Which will enable us to have all 8 players as seafaring nations.
Two or three players could play the same Civilization, just a different branch of the same people group... not like that has not happened time and again on our own planet... (we have two China's at this time on our planet)
then we change the colour of one tribe, (and even the names if really needed)
So the Iron Prince and Konig Bongo could both then be Viking tribes... and thus so could someone else...
we could be so mad as to have an 8 player viking world... opps getting just a little carried away there... I need my pills and some whiskey
ahh much better
so do you like that idea??? |
quote: Posted by Iron Jackson on 08-03-2004 02:07 am:
Paddy that´s a fantastic idea. I think with the Byzantines, the Vikings and the English the best civs are already chosen.
You can divide the Vikings for example into Norwegians ( ), Swedes and Danish Vikings. Or the English into Scottish, Welsh and British English. |
quote: Posted by Shogun Gunner on 08-03-2004 10:13 am:
Wow, I suggested that we be creative in planning our future game, in an earlier post, and everyone did just that!
I like the idea of three base seafaring civs broken into eight civs
Byzantine base: Byzantine Empire and Roman Empire
English base: Brits, Scottish, Irish...
Scandy base: Danish, Norwegien, Swedish |
quote: Posted by ChrisiusMaximus on 08-03-2004 10:37 am:
great idea Paddy |
quote: Posted by ChrisiusMaximus on 08-03-2004 11:02 am:
though I chose byzantines earlier I would love to play a game of 8 viking clans. A sort of confederation of Vikings, who can act independantly of each other and be at war or at peace but always belonging to the federation.
It would be nice to have some AI to rape and pillage too but this 8 players only thing is a problem there.
Oh well it should be a fun game what ever we choose to do.
if we go all viking it would be good to disable all techs after invention say or no further tham middle ages not allowing cavalry and muskets, thus ensuring all combat be done the true viking way with axes and warhammers |
quote: Posted by Paddy the Scot on 08-03-2004 11:53 am:
well if we were really bad we could:
have 8 even islands that are all the same.
all evenly spread .
as we should all know each other anyway, being the same people.
not start with embassies.
but a pic of the map emailed to each of us.
we would still need to search.
and are not sure which island who is on etc
Then we would have a game of players not so much the civs |

How's this for a setup then, arcipalego map, restless barbarians, monarch, no AI, the rest random(tribes, age, map size, world age)
With 8 players many would get seafaring, those without would probably get better starting positions as compensation..... |
Giant map still ?
