I'm sorry if you think I'm a jerk.
You and your boyfriend can join the same unit on the buddy system. Just keep the fact that you are gay to yourself and you can spend many nights watching eachothers back.
Of course you can express your opinion freely. I was not saying shut up or anything like that. I'm really sorry you feel that way.
I don't recall anywhere in any oath that I have taken to defend my country any mention of iraqi's or kurds. Not that I don't like them but my concerns focus on the U.S. and not the M.E.. I also feel that if Saddam was so bad the U.S. would not have supplied him with some of the weapons that were used on the Kurds, Iranians, and Iraqi's. That is to say he is no worse than the ones who enabled him in his crimes. He is no worse than many other despots and I do not believe that any nation has the right to decide the destiny of another nation.
My freely expressed view is that anyone who sees the issues in such a clear manner as yourself should be over in Iraq making a difference. Maybe you can take my cousins place.

Does anyone find it funny that Fez's post contains an advert for the council of peace.
From their site:
quote: We Hereby Join Together, in Heart, Mind, Action and Energy, as a Council of Peace, to Declare Ourselves for Peace, to Add to the Collective Power for Peace on Earth, to Forswear the Use of Violence, to Support True Collaboration and the Resolution of Conflict through Peaceful Negotiations, Held in Good Faith, without Duplicity, and to Proclaim Our Unity with All
Things and Our Support for the Highest Good of All

Neoconservatism must be the most brainless, postmodern ideology in history. I mean the whole thing is so vacuous it's laughable.
Their basic attitude is "let's take a bunch of discredited economic and social ideas, stack 'em together with a mediaeval view of crime and punishment and mix them into a dull porridge of prejudices. And if anyone objects, well there is no truth anymore, so we will substitute conviction - so even if we're arseholes, no-one can prove it."
I overheard some students last term talking about how they should identify themselves politically in another class they were taking. Both thought that they should be neoconservatives, not because they actually believed in any of it, but because they thought it would be advantageous to be thought so.
And so the university disgorges another pair of empty heads....
All conservatism, neo or not, is simply a poor means of rationalizing one's desire to impoverish, rip off and dominate others. It's no different than Protestants trying to convince themselves that poor people deserve it. What's amazing is that some people actually end up believing that crap. I mean.. every child knows it's wrong, but they have it beaten into them enough and they end up believing it.
