in other occasions that there was no such threads, and we were saying "there was an announcement", some people were responding: "where? oh, that's announcement? I never check it"...
<img src=/forums/"/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>

I find it ridiculous that people don't want to spend 0.1 seconds/day to see if there's a new announcement when they spend >3600 seconds/day to just post stuff, often with no apparent good reason.

Why read announcements... if you add up all the times you would read announcements per week, your post count could be 1 higher (2 for mao )... its a waste of time...

Anyway... people are greedy... they get nothing out of reading the announcments (especially when Ming spoon feeds 'em to us )...

I say, if we're too lazy to read the announcements we should suffer the consequences!! (whatever they may be...)

Although I would be one of those people and probably would get banned for posting the 151st post on a thread ... of course using a d/l for the hell of it

Anyway... I think there should be exceptions... like the coffee shop... 150, you'd have new coffee shops every 2 days!! This should be moved up to 500... or closed entirely... but that would be no fun.

Yes for 'normal' threads this is good, although annoying it helps speed things up... but for the coffee shop 150 posts is just ridiculous!

CtG:

First, I think that making exceptions is not so easy at all... It is if you are an experienced UBB hacker, which MarkG actually isn't.

Second, are you really so greedy that you all have T1 connections which show the whole page in 0.001 seconds? My 56k modem(In Finland) uses at least 5 seconds to load a forum page. BTW, it hasn't speeded up so much after making the limit. But, anyway, I really have enough time to read the announcements.

It is a disgrace that Ming and Markos are abusing their powers like this! You can't ban this many people because of this! Do you want that everyone moves to another discussion page?

First of all, I hope everyone knows that this isn't about 150 posts in a thread anymore. It's about tyranny and supression.

Normally, I agree with Mark, Dan, and Ming's actions. However, banning people because they wish to discuss something in a convienent place is absurd. That's all their is to it.

I may just post in that thread. It will mean nothing to you tyrants, but it will mean everything to me and the ones before me.

This is abuse of moderator power, no doubt! Ming should be banned for 2 weeks and docked 50% of posts. I'd hate to compare people to Hitler, but I think Ming comes close.

And to think I was starting to like Ming too..

oh my god!
there are people with reason in apolyton who post their opinions in the right place!

the thread in the OT was meant as an announcement thread, not as a discussion thread. what's so hard to understand about that?

It's just a big game. That's the problem. Banned for a week? Big deal. Who can't stay away from Apolyton for a week?! ok ok, maybe Mao JK! I guess if MarkG and Ming don't mind the banning and closing threads than it's not a big deal. Can't you (MarkG or Ming) move single posts to a new thread. I was wondering if you could move posts to the Apolyton form as they are posted in OT (if you really, really, really hate to see them in OT). Seems like this would be less work in the long run. Now, you have this game going on. Maybe longer bans would make some think twice before -playing- the ban game.

The whole thing really is pretty silly. Just locking the thread (I know Ming says this is a pain having to lock, unlock the thread) still seems like less work.

of course... apolyton history is being made. the 150 post thread will live forever. you'll see it in polls years from now - do you remember the 150 post thread?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

What is the big fuss about I read the thread early this morning and never thought about posting on it. There are only a few threads that this would affect and most of those are spam threads. In my short time I have only seen a couple of serious disscussion/debate threads go that far.

I also agree that the adims should be able to post threads that can not be replied to for the simple reason that how many poeple just replied to the thread just beacuse they were told not to. The longer a thread goes the less likely people are to read the first post.

Is it so hard to refrain from posting when you are told not to?

Put an end to popups!

Sheesh. There's one word to describe this whole thing: Stupid. First of all, I can sympathize with Markos wanting just one discussion thread instead of two. Perhaps it would be better to do the one thread in the OTF instead of Apolyton, but no matter. However, Ming's time-saving approach was DEFINTELY not a good idea. After the first three people, he should have locked the thread and gone to the tedious locking-unlocking procedure one or two times. Then this would be no big deal.

That being said, he didn't. And he had a right to do that, though I wouldn't think it to be the wisest choice. And you guys decided to be stupid anyway! There's civil disobedience and then there's stupid civil disobedience. You can complain all you want about this in Apolyton about the practice of not allowing discussion on these issues in the OTF. But this stupid act of rebellion is NOT going to convince the admins to change their policy, it'll only convince them to do the tedious lock-unlock procedure in the future, making more work for them and no gain for you. End result: Nothing. If MarkG and Co. does decide to change their policy, you can bet it won't be because of you. And if they don't change their minds, then you will have only created more work for Ming. Happy?

I'M BACK OFF VACATION!!

Yes, when you read this post, Ming has already re-enabled my login. He told me via e-Mail that the vacation should be ended soon.(11 to 12 hours from the time of the mail on, so should be over now)

Well, now it's over, and my first visit to Mingopulco is over. It was really impressive.

I consider to write down my first impressions of Mingopulco in a book. Thinking about the title...
