The Beta thread got locked so I'll post a series of questions here. Perhaps I just missed it, but I didn't see anything about renewal of benefits. Will we be contacted via PM or email when the benefits would be about to expire? Or is it up to us to renew manually? Most of the people in the Beta from yesterday signed up for the beta option so in a month we'll need to renew. Can we go ahead and send the money to renew now so we'd have the renewal in place now, or do we need to wait until the month is almost finished to renew again?

If we can do so now, I might just go ahead and sign up for the lifer option so I don't have to worry about renewing.

Thanks Mark and Dan.

From the FAQ :

Sorry, the answer is no and no.

Instead, you can arrange with a friend to get you a subscription and you can pay him his expenses in whatever way suits you both.

Who wants 6 Euros from me? (A small profit, at current exchange rates) I have no other way of paying unless I can mail someone cash/cheque and they use their card.

It all looks great!

I have one query though.........the prices mostly look great, but the lifetime subscription (which I had intended to use) looks very pricey. Perhaps you should consider rewarding those taking it (who don't really know whether they will still play Civ in x years time, or even if the site will still be here in it's current form) by bringing it down to, say, 5 yearly subscriptions added together.

Otherwise I can see people who might have gone that route just taking the yearly subscription.

I think many are going to be in this boat, or at least a boat where they don't really want to or cannot use Paypal.

i consider the lifetime prices to be an "investment". something that perhaps wasnt emphasized enough in the announcement and the faq is that the subscriptions and their benefits are not static. this is only the start and lifetime subscribers will always be on the top of things(for example geting for free benefits that other will pay for)!

Well obviously it's your call.

It is however about 8 years worth of subscription payments. You say in the FAQ it's the best way to support Apolyton today, which suggests to me you want to encourage the lifetime subscription.

However, I wouldn't take one at the current price, and I suspect many potential lifetime subscribers will feel the same, (although by posting so I probably encourage people to take one just to prove me wrong. )

Has anyone taken one yet?
