In addition to the proven falsehoods presented by the Administration (generally attributed to "British Intelligence" because the CIA wouldn't do it), there is also the false presentation by the administration of only intelligence evidence which supported war.
This is not acceptable. US Intelligence assets belong to the people of the United States. It is not marketing data for the benefit of the Administration. While I admit that only people who need to know can be allowed to view highly sensitive intelligence, I expect that those people will not deliberately distort its presentation on a matter of war and peace.
Clearly neither I nor Congress can maintain our own intelligence services to check up on what the Administration tells us. So when we are talking about engaging in a potentially endless war, we have to demand that the Administration present its intelligence findings in good faith. It does not get to shade the truth when we are proposing to violate the UN Charter to engage in an exceedingly dangerous occupation of an entire nation, all for highly dubious strategic reasons.

And I thought that was improper too. However the intervention in Yugoslavia was a hundred times less dangerous than Iraq, was done in support of allies in the region, had grudging international support and was done for good strategic reasons. In addition, we could exit at any time without major consequence, which is certainly not true about Iraq.
I am willing to give any administration enough leeway to allow it conduct a realistic foreign policy, even if it means shading the truth. But there is a difference between giving them leeway and giving them the ocean.

Are you suggesting that preventing an open ended sectarian war in southeastern Europe wasn't a good strategic reason? Well, it was.
And it certainly seems to be a better idea than starting an open ended sectarian war in the Middle East.

And yes, any black person who is a republican is an Uncle Tom. |
Powell wasnot born in America I believe so he cannot run for President.

Never believe than democratically elected government to tell the trueth about going to war. Did you know we knew 3 month ahead of time of the Japness attack on Pearl Harbor, as we known 3 month before 9-11 that 9-11 was going to happen. The missing page of than public report on 9-11 doesnot tell that Suadic Arabic intelligence gave the name of the AQ who will carry out 9-11, where they can be found, how they will carry out the attack and what the target will be.

Have any of you read Robert A. Heinlein Farnham's Freehold. In a Black and Brown skin colored world of the far furt they used white female slave as bedwarmer to keep the master warm at night and other special duties as needed.
