hmm... Jesus seemed to be an allright guy to me, at least from what I have read about him in the bible.

It was the powers of religion who were the true enemies, just like today.

Indeed DD. Communism is simply the new leftist religion. The new opiate of the masses . Secular humanism didn't do the job, so they had to turn to the cult of Marx. Of course other arose with their own sects of the religion of Communism.

Dude, I am not a commie. Any government that does not incorporate effective elections -- Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Stalinist Russia, Titoist Yugoslavia, Maoist China, Berlusconist Italy, Putinic Russia, Bushist America -- is broken.

Nevertheless, religion is an ichorous cancer on the human spirit. It malevolently simmers in depredation, persecution, and schadenfreude. The antedeluvian evil draws on its last breaths and soon the fire of the malebolgian depths of its putrid wickedness shall blink for one last time and never again reignite.

I think religion has outlived its usefulness, and that the modern world would be better off if religion disappeared entirely from its face.

However, the idea of going to war against the religious people is despicable. If people want to believe in fairies, let them do. The society should only give the environment for such beliefs not to have any appeal (i.e. a society where science is taught completely secularily at school, and where religions are taught completely secularily as well, just like Greek mythology - I personally really would like to see religions be more covered in history courses, to remove the Greek myhology's monopoly as "beliefs not to be taken seriously")

Without religion, you would not have things such as the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Salem Witch Hunt, Islamic extremists and Christian fundamentalists.

On the average, it seems way better to be without religion.

Religion is the opiate of the masses- Karl Marx

Revolution is the opiate of the intellectuals- Karl Marx

quote:
No to religon, yes to spirituality.

There's nothign wrong with contemplating the meaning of life and existence. Just think for yourself when you do it.
Perfectly put Ludd

Religions are for the weak of mind who are unable to deal with the possibility that ther is nothing beyond our little insinificant existence. They are for people who do not wish to think, and wouldd rahter have the answeres spoon fed to them, rather than seek out the truth.
