You can expect the Gaians faction to be quite Buildy.
Or Conquery.

OK - how about this for discussion purposes:
Share Structure
MorgaCorp has 1000 shares authorized
Each player starts with 50 shares (so that if we start with 10 players, then we have 500 shares issued)
Share value is 10 times the AC score at end of turn, (our "assets") plus 1/10th of the accumulated lab points (our "inventory") plus the ec's in hand (our "cash in hand") divided by the number of shares issued and outstanding
(so that, at end of, say, turn 10 we have an AC score of 60, accumulated lab points of 150 and reserves of 135, our net asset value per share is 600 (10 x 60) plus 15 (1/10th of 150) plus 135, totalling 750. We have 500 shares issued, so the stockprice that turn is 1.50 ec's
The Board may then issue stock options - at 1.50 ec's - to players who are Base Managing Directors (say 50 share options for growing a new base to size 4 and generating 15 mins per turn at that base. That may take ten years, by which time the share value might be, say, 3.50 - however the player can acquire those shares for the 1.50 option price
Notional Income
How do players generate the notional income to buy the shares?
I suggest that the first 5 bases be common property (as the faction will need production of certain central services - Special Projects, peripatetic probe teams, initial colony pods, maybe even a centauri preserve or 2 to minimize ecol damage)
After that, the bases that get built are assigned to members in the order of signing up for membership. After everyone has a base to manage, further bases can then be bought, or created thru colony pods from bases that you manage
Players "keep" 2/3rds of the revenue their bases produce (minerals x 2, or actual ec's if stockpiling energy)
Players also keep 2/3rds of ec's generated by their units pod-popping an energy credit goodie, etc
(the other 3rd goes into general revenue calculations, for central services purposes - say bnuying - and upgrading - a crawler from a particular base to use for SP rushing)
Any revenue generated by selling techs to the AI would be general revenue
Obviously, a fairly detailed spreadsheet would need to be maintained to keep track of this - I'd be willing to do this
Board Elections
51% of shares issued and outstanding would represent a quorum qt the Annual General Meeting (say in 2101 and every ten years thereafter)
Everyone will be on the Board until we exceed 9 in number of players, after which elections will be held to nominate and appoint 9 to the Board
The Board may form Committees with, say, 3 members each (Finance, Foreign Affairs, defense, etc etc) to whom the Executive officers report - the CEO reporting to the whole Board (of which he is a member, presumably)
The Board, or its Committees, take responsibilty for Strategic Planning and Policy Direction (In our context would be SE choices, builder/hybrid/momentum direction, treaties, Pacts and vendettas, etc) and executives would be responsible for Policy execution (what to build, where to explore, etc)
The full Board, or a Committee (Operations committee?) would take responsibility for the management of the core 5 bases
more to come

cont ...............
intra-base trades
Let's say that Chaunk gets to manage Base #6 (Chaunkville) and Impaler gets base #7 (Impaler City)
Chaunk is concentrating on building and managing a terraformer fleet, and Imp has a great site on a mountain with a couple of rivers - great for an eventual energy park.
Imp contracts with Chaunk to rent 3 formers for a ten year period to build, say, 6 solar energy grids and 3 echelon mirrors They have agreed to 1 ec per former per turn, so each turn the spreadsheet credits Chaunk with 3 ec's and debits Imp (thus 30 over the timeframe above)
Or maybe they agree to terminal payment - 3 ec's per terraform so that after 4 turns maybe 9 ec's get paid, etc
But that's one way that Chaunk can garner income.
Plus he keeps 2/3rd of the ec value of Chaunville's annual production (minerals x 2 and labpoints/10)
Or he might barter. ZargonX might have base#8, - Morgan Aerospace - and has built an aerospace center there. Chaunk wants an interceptor based at Chaunkville, so he either rents one from ZargonX (say 2 ec's per turn) - or barters - a terrraformer assigned to Morgan Aerospace in exchange for an Interceptor Needlejet assigned to Chaunkville - they could actually rehome the units if they so wished
(Note that offensive Noodles might give more problems depending on SE choices as they may spawn drones. Googlie may have built base #9, and in anticipation of, say, units away from home might have built a Punishment shpere there. So if Bomber Noodles were produced, and stationed in other bases, they wouldn't want to be rehomed - but the rental price might be higher (due to the loss of labpoints in Googlie's base due to the Punishment Sphere)
It's going to be a heck of a spreadsheet, but it should be oodles of fun preparing and running
What should the 5 Core Bases do?
Well, they should prolly produce those things that aren't readily "profit-making" such as build SP's, run Covert Ops, certainly for the first ten to twenty turns or so churn out Colony Pods (maybe except for Morgan Industries itself). Perhaps one of those bases - on the coast - likewise builds a Punishment Sphere and becomes the naval headquarters - or if we run Green for a few turns could be a wormhunting operation HQ
What does the CEO do?
The CEO presents to the Board a Vision Statement and Strategic Plan for approval or amendment as necessary
Base managing Directors feed to the CEO their build and movement orders for their bases
The CEO, under direction from the Board or its Committee, manages the production in the five core bases
The CEO, as the turnplayer, plays the turn, following the agreed-upon orders, and using discretion and judgement as necessary (eg move a rover to a fungus square and encounters a lurking mindworm - attack or withdraw?)
The CEO recommends to the Board stock option grants for Base Managing Directors and for himself, together with suggested performance measures that, if attained, would trigger the stock option
still thinking - more to come prolly
