Also, IIRC from wargames, a Lasgun has no blast area, but is very good at penetrating shields and armour. It is a single person/vehicle weapon, not a blast radius explosive. Hence if he fires it, he'll kill that person, and anything in that exact line, but not harm everyone else around who it wasn't pointed at.

Though that could just be from playing other games

You don't need to leave the planet..... I'm pretty sure it's only equilvant to a large nuclear bomb..... Better leave the continent just to be safe.

Gosh dune was one of my favourites.

Its a fabulously imagined universe, that was sadly copied by every other Sci-fi space empire book or film made since.

Ah well. Nothing else comes close to the atmosphere of the original Dune series... not even SMAC

Nope I've played and watched Dune, but my knowledge of lasguns and their bigger brothers, lascannons, is from Warhammer 40K.
