I like him well enough as a knowledgable and dedicated hockey personality with a large dose of colour. I wish he could be saved. Unfortunately, he has put his foot in it big time, so I don't like his chances.

Of course, there is also the fact that he is 70 years old. Not sure how the country would react to him having the final coronary live on the most watched program in the country.

Another win for the Leafs. The Flyers are looking like the Sens. Philly has to find something or they're dead.

As for the Flames, they're going down and as much as I hate the Wings, I'll be cheering when Calgary bites the dust after what Nieminen did. Hitting the goalie like that is one of the cheapest, scummiest things a player can do. Good riddence to them.

As for Cherry, I haven't seen him lately, but the times that I have, he's been a joke. He used to have good stuff to say about the game, even when I disagreed with him, but lately he's just been a clown. Time for him to retire.

12,000 votes and counting - 80% in favour.

I know CBC can make boneheaded decisions with regularity but this one seems a no-brainer for them.

What I don't understand is why Cherry wants to stay on CBC!? He has market value elsewhere.

Nice game... Sakic is on fire for sure.. Scoring last 3 goals for Colorado and two of them being winning goals in overtime.. very nice.

I was happy to see Selänne getting some time on the ice and I thought he was OK.. skating a lot and created that first scoring situationo where Sakic put it in so I think he'll be on ice next time too and he will be scoring I'm sure. Been little off the tune lately but getting there.

How about those Flames though? It looks like the pattern is Kiprusoff denying scoring from the other teams and Iginla scoring and winning the game. Those two are a powerhouse for the Flames. Leading Detroit now, I think they might take it the next time and advance!

Exciting playoffs... San Jose will not advance, Colorado will come behind from 3-0 losses and win that series 4-3 .

I'm amazed at how well Nabokov is playing this series. Getting the puck past him is quiet a challenge indeed. On the same topic, I'm also surprised by how well Abby is doing, especially as of late. And he's no Roy.

Could this be the breakdown of Nabby?

He's been a great wall...... amazing goalie.

If the Avs win the next game making it a tie at 3-3... they will win the deciding 7th game. Coming back from 0-3.. they'll have a huge advantage going in.

Pretty low on scores these playoffs too.

Yes, I think the Avs definitely have the advantage in these low-scoring games as long as Abby can go toe-to-toe with Nabokov. So many offensive weapons give too many chances to score goals (ala games 4 and 5).

Trip, absolutely. They have huge scoring arsenal.. maybe too huge. It's those tight games, players like Sakic can turn the series around. Avs just have too many players like that who can do those things and they're on a row now so it will be tough for San Jose.. next game is in Denver too, I'd put my money on Avs winning this series now. Well, at least I hope so.

Someone who is into statistics could look up how many times in playoffs a team has done a comeback from 0-3 situation and advanced? I think there are not too many.. if I remember correctly, there are 3 cases? or 2?

2 cases.

Toronto (?) in 1942 and someone else in 1975. Both teams that came back had home ice advantage also. So if Colorado were to come back and win on the road they'd be making history.

Hope Yzerman's all right. That was scary.

As for the 3-0 bit: NY Islanders were the 1975 team that did it, to Pittsburgh.

Absolutely un*ingbelievable attitudes we're getting out of the East towards the Flames; most vividly from your usual "everything Alberta does is wrong" taint of CBC broadcasts. You know - I'd honestly say that's what it is to be Canadian during playoffs.. cheering the Leafs, Nucks or Canadiens (etc.) whether or not you even gave a damn about them during regular season

and just what the * do you know, our little FOB darling? You were most probably gargling noodles in a bicycle taxi to the local junk ferry the last time this north brought the cup home. Niemenen is an asshat who's being criticized heavily by his own coach, team and fan CALGARIANS for what he did that game. If you actually knew any sort of hockey history regarding - a greaseball like Chelios on Detroit would cast whatever infantile "that whole team is obviously full of meanies" towards the Wings

anyway - here's cheering for the Leafs tommorrow!! and btw; I only heard the last period of today's game at work. did the Yzerman injury look that bad??

Z--Yzerman is a tough, proud guy. He doesn't go down easy, and when he does go down, he fights his way back up and off the ice.

He dropped like a lead weight, and was kicking his legs in pain. The TV I was watching on wasn't the greatest, but there appeared to be a trail of blood on the ice from where he was flailing.

I heard Ron Maclean say after the second period that Yzerman was seen outside the dressing room with a bandage over his eye.

This being the playoffs, no one has said exactly what happened. Could be anything from a laceration or bruise up to a broken orbit or skull fracture or, heaven forbid, a ruptured globe.

and yeah, the guy is simply class.. what a shame this could be. Skull fracture wouldn't surprise, but the latter is possible - and that sure ends a career

What are you on tonight?

Here's what Sh!tter: "Things like that happen in a game. It's just frustration. I don't know -- I really still don't know what happened. Niemo could have avoided him but, at the same time, I don't think it was blatant or anything like that. He's not a dirty player, we've seen that."

That's what you call heavy criticising. Gimme a break.

Things like that don't just happen. Every player knows you don't attack goaltenders. Anyone else is fair game, but not goalies. That's part of the code.

And the idea that it wasn't blatant is just crap. It was a deliberate intent to injured.

And it was part of a trend. When the Flames are losing, they resort to cheap shots.

No goalie deserves what happened to Cujo.

As for Cujo being a traitor, no way. He was a great Leafs player and after what happened in the Olympics, he had to leave. He did the team a favour by going to Detroit. It was better than staying with the bad blood between him and Quinn.

He also showed this year that he's a class act. He never complained or whined when the Wings had to put him on waivers.
