As for Battle reports, definitely. I'd like to see at mininum the number of forces lost on each side (or at least on YOUR side, since presumably the opponent knows what is missing, but it's polite to include both), cities gained/lost/razed, etc. Just my 2 cents again.

Spain may never like my people yet international peace keeping is not a simple process.

Yet never let it be said that we entered into a popularity contest.

So battle reports are required:

The Spainish Cruiser sank - opps

The Spainish rail networks are in a bit of turmoil

British Peace Keeper will be dispatched to see how we can assist in getting the rebels, that threaten the Spainish Government, under control.

Operations continue on the Island of Spain

Several British Peace Keeper units have taken a pounding, and a few have actually gone missing - all very mysterious...

A German Destroyer has been sighted patroling in the waters along the coast near where once the proud Spainish city of Toledo stood... One wonders just what they are upto. Hopefully they will be deploying peace keepers to further assist this international effort in bring the rebels in Soveriegn Spain under control.

Across the island a mighty Spainish Cruiser has been sighted. Thanks be to the stars that it is here, the rebels will surely not be able to make a run for it on any sort of boat/s.

It is hoped that the people of Spain will continue in their efforts of supporting these proud and oh so loud British Peace Keepers.

Gentlemen can we not sit at the table and discuss terms for a lasting peace treaty ?

Surely what does britain hope to gain from destroying one of only three potential trading partners, there is much empty terrain in this world for our explorers and settlers to claim and make productive, do our peoples not deserve freedom and peace?

America stands neutrally by and hopes that our friends in England and Spain can find a way to resolve this dispute and bring forth a time of peace and prosperity for all.

Washington stands ready to welcome delegates from both your great sovereign nations to hold peace talks on neutral and safe! ground. We await with hope in our hearts both your responses.

Germany would encourage the nations of England and Spain to approach the peace table, in Washington, with thoughts of a peacable resolution to their dispute. We would remind them both that the difficulties of peace are better than the agony of war, and hope to be able to say at the end of the day that we have preserved peace in our time.

This said, we must remind those present that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing. It is clear that a serious grounds for this war must exist, on one side or the other, and if a nation feels its honor unjustly impugned, or its territory wrongfully occupied, it must strike back. The nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten, and to remember these defenders an honorable solution must be reached.

Germany will support a fair and honorable peace, but will not stand in the way of war if it is necessary. At the present time we see no need to intervene in this war, so long as it continues to be prosecuted in an honorable method, with both sides reporting to each other about the consequences of their battles, and minimizing damage to the planetary environment.

Paddy, it's a gameplay thing. Since Civ3 does not show you what happened during other people's turns in a PBEM, it is harmful to the game to not know about it. In RL, if you wish, you certainly see what happens during combat involving your units (well, most of the time anyways). Civ3 PBEM doesn't show you that, so we improvise by having these battle reports. Not only is it only fair to know what you were beaten by (since that's relevant to your strategy), but in PBEM when it's a day between turns usually it's hard to remember what units you had the day before ...

Battle reports are a standard in Apolyton PBEMs, so it's not just us. Talk to Rommel2d or Beta, I'm sure they could explain it further if you want more info on them.
