If multiple nations are allowed, the expansion for lone nations should definitely be allowed. I think any expansion should be approved, and maximum number of spots on the map per person should be fixed.

well with all the land we have available - madness to leave it lieing there - not very realistic either

and if we get a sudden influx of players -

well how hard is it to either:

- squish up a bit
that is the bigger players move back into there original borders a bit

or

- the map makers expand the map a bit

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Are we talking about peaceful expansion or military conquest?

As I posted somewhere else, each area on the map can only have so many people, so a nation with a large population should be allowed to move into empty territories as the need arises.

Military conquests, on the other hand, should be handled by the regional Court.

He made it up. Al Mastif is apparently made up of desert nomads who somehow became very numerous, thus taking up a very large area.

As for how it works: it doesn't. Move to the Corrupted Empires of Charr if you want to have endless desert nations.

As for the poll itself: wtf is this 'Apolyton Council', and why should it have any authority over whether or not a nation can claim an area of the map?

The United Good has already formally requested an expansion to accommodate our billion plus populace... The other option is to send out more missionaries to our fellow Apolyton States... There could be one about to knock on your door right now !!!

possible options:
- group islands together to form bigger nations (e.g. 44+184=new 44 and call somewhere else 184; 9+10=new 9 and call somewhere else 10; etc.)
- redraw the islands with a bigger area. (allow people to submit their own island map)

There are less of them though.
I actually transfered my original old map of Ceroo onto the main one. The islands ARE bigger, but there are less of them. The difference in pixels across the three territories, Ceroo, San Antonio Bay and True Colony is actually not that big (although it is over-all larger I will admit)

Plus, I will allow other people to reasonably reshape their own island and alter their coastline and incorporate the changes into the map (as stated in the map thread).

I voted yes on the poll.
(And have submitted a suggestion on the OOC: The Rules thread about how it should be handled)
