I was think of my campaign platform and of course, the subject of my, ehem, warmongering, was near the top of my list.
I'm gunna do a little bit of an impersonation of former US president Clinton here and play both sides of the fence.
I do not consider myself to be a pure warmonger. My consider my playstyle that of an oppertunistic war builder. I build so that I can support a large military then I pounce when I see the slightest strategic advantage. I can support this all the way back to the SPDGI.
In that game, we went to war agaist the French. We were doing well when the French paid off Germany and Persia to backstab us. France quickly signed a peace deal with us as they clearly did not have the power to fight us. Germany lost one city and tucked their tail and ran. Persia on the other hand, fought on. I pushed for their destruction. Why? Sure it was a bit because we had a ROP with them at the time, but mostly it was because I saw a strategic advantage in fighting with them. They had no Iron. I pushed for war with them because I saw an oppertunity. Later in that game, I was appointed by our esteemed ET as deputy DM and regional governer over Pina Colada and later over Classical Apolyton.
In this game, I pushed for war with CDG because I saw a strategical oppertunity in the Two-Warrior gambit. We had the oppertunity to have two warriors on the doorstep of CDG's only city on turn 20 something. They would not have had bronse working at the time so no spearmen. We also calculated out that they probaly only had one warrior there to defend. Now the chances of success were not 100%, but it was still a change to get the game half over extremely early. We also knew that they would not be able to do the same to us as we were strong to them when we only had three warriors. I just saw it as an oppertunity too good to pass up. Later, we saw an unescourted settler. I had been able to calculate that that one unit totaled out to be something like 30% of their entire population and production. In one fell swoop, we could have netted us two slave workers and devistated CDG to the point that they would not be able to recover. Once again, I saw a strategic oppertunity.
Now, as I don't see myself as a pur warmonger, I do realize that I am a tad bit more aggressive than most on this team . This is why I would proudly carry the flag of the warmongers and I feel that their representation in the Consulship should be a necessity during an elimination game.
oh yeah... UGGH! Hit with Club!

I don't really have much to say. My credentials are experience in various DGs around poly; I started out as a regional governor at the end of SPDG1. Since then I've done a lot of MoIing; I was MoI for Lego in PTWDG, I am currently for Tabemono in PTWDGII, and I've been helping with domestic stuff on the Mercenary team in the MZO DG as well.
What? Err, yes, I'm running for Consul, not MoI. I do also have a lot of turnplaying experience from Tabemono, where I'm one of the two primary turnplayers, and I occassionally play Merc saves over at MZO.
My playstyle is more builder, but I think we all agree it's time for warmongering here.
That's pretty much it. I am opinionated on most things; on the current debate, I'm for the alliance with PAL. However, that's not really germane, as I will do my best to go with the majority opinion on important issues like this, polling as necessary to determine what that majority opinion is.

ssshhht! don't say that! Remove it. Quick, before anyone notices. Donegeal is supposed to say that. YOU have to convince the public here that all they need is a builder, just like YOU. Or at least a more balanced person than your opponent.
Having fulfilled all those offices doesn't tell anyone about the quality of your work. Perhaps you have been fired everywhere and perhaps you did so many jobs because after being fired somewhere, you started elsewhere, to be fired one month later. Show them that you deliver proper work.
You need to convince them that you are their HERO, the one they need to make an end to all the problems they have. Make them confident: you are their leader and they rely on you. You are the beacon in the storm and the shining light in the dark. You are the helping hand when nobody can help and you are their companion when they are alone.
Show them that you are not only strong of words, but also strong of mind. That you don't panic whenever something unforeseen happens. That you don't let you opinion be influenced by every day events. Show them that you have a VISION
And last but not least, be kind. Shake hands, smile, laugh, kiss their babies and speak kind words.
Now, off you go! And don't forget: stay CALM.

I'm not a diplomacy guy, but my thoughts:
1. Extend NAPs as far as we can. But don't be quick about it; since we'll want to stall on NAPing once we're ready to attack, and fool them as long as possible, we'll want to set up a precedent so that we are, in their eyes, slow to respond and to decide things. (Don't, con. )
2. Be open with them where we can to create some trust. For instance, we might want to contemplate telling them we've met PAL fairly soon. Just because we want to cut them off from some important information like our alliance with PAL shouldn't shut our info-sharing with them down completely.
3. As the attack approaches, attempt to fool them by presenting a serious proposal. I think a border proposal would be perfect; it signifies wanting a long-term relationship, but the actual negotiations on the supposed path to signing it can be delayed by all sorts of issues, made up ones if necessary. This one would require the investment of some extra time by Vander, but I think it would be worth it if it keeps them fooled a while longer.
That's pretty much all I can think of. I hope we can think of some more things than #3, otherwise I honestly think they'll see it coming. The border proposal has a chance of working, but just a chance.
We should also make sure PAL is not too hostile with them, if we can manage it. We don't need them gearing up to defend against PAL any more than we need them to gear up to defend against us. If either one of us alarms them, the result is the same: a harder war.

Whether or not to risk the reputation hit is basically the team's decision, though I would prefer not to do something like this in round 1. |
I'm not entirely convinced that we HAVE to, really.
Let's say that CDG knows it's coming. They're going to face both Apolyton and PAL. They aren't the best builders in the world. The best they could hope to do is attempt to rush us... and by the time we refuse to renew the NAP, our REX should be complete and we'll have hoplites up the wazoo.
Sure, we might lie to them before that, but we don't have to actually break an agreement with them. The reason is that this isn't going to be a fair fight.
So up until the point our REX is complete and we have sufficient hoplites to stop them, we have to lie, yes. Once that point is reached, I see little use in playing the game any longer, assuming we can rely on PAL.
