The contestants have clearly regained their breath, and leap towards one another. Chaunk tries a crude bludgeoning blow to the head, while Jamski injects great skill into a slice low at Chaunk's legs. Neither puts any effort into defence, and both blows land, giving Jamski a nastily bleeding scalp wound and Chaunk a cut in his shin, although not as serious as the gash in Jamski's leg.
Jamski quickly turns his blade for an equally carefully constructed return blow, but Chaunk musters a masterful defence and is able to slow the blow enough that it does not penetrate his armour.
Jamski pulls away, having spent his focus, and Chaunk takes the opportunity to gasp in a few more precious lungfuls of air.
Jamski took 15 damage, leaving 73HP and Chaunk took 14, leaving 54HP.
I'm accepting orders for round 9.
The rounds come quickly, and although Chaunk gained a point here, he needs to do better if he wants victory.

Theben and the Doctor, their wounds hastily bound while Jamski-San and Chaunk entertained the crowd, return to the fray.
Both gladiators leap toward one another, thier blades outstretched, and embed them in each other's torsos. The Doctor, with a longer blade, hits first and more deeply than Theben, piercing a lung.
Theben, however, appears to have hit a sensetive nerve and as the contestants pull apart, the Doctor remains paralyzed for a moment, allowing Theben, cautiously, and from behind the protection of his shield, to incise a small cut across his knee.
The effect does not last, however, and the Doctor suddenly explodes into action once more. Theben attempts to shield himself, but the surprise is too much and the deadly reapier wit once again pierces him deeply. Theben is nevertheless able to give the Doctor a matching cut on his other knee while he focuses completely on attack.
Theben took 54 damage, leaving him on 8HP. The Doctor took 38 damage, leaving him on 20HP.
I'm accepting orders for round 5.
The end is nigh, but for who? I fear we might have to deal with a double KO here... If so, then I think we'll have an additional round, and give the victory to whoever does the most damage.

Jamski and Chaunk refuse to pause in their relentless combat.
Chaunk begins cautiously, maintaining a strong defense despite Jamski-San apparently doing nothing, staring off into the distance as if meditating.
Chaunk is right to be wary, for as soon as he lowers his defence to crouch and attempt to cut at Jamski's legs, the map from Nippon leaps onto his blade and, in an extraordinary display of balance and swordsmanship, cuts brutally into Chaunk's back. Not impressed by Jamski's showmanship, Chaunk is quickthinking enough to twist his sword and let Jamski's own weight dig it into the soles of his feet before he is able to dismount.
Chaunk remains crouched down on the floor, presenting a small target that he is able to defend even from Jamski's skilled counterattack.
Jamski suffered 18 damage, leaving 55HP and Chaunk 28, leaving 26HP.
I'm accepting orders for round 10.
Chaunk misjudged a little here - he's in a difficult position now.

We have a guest author for some of the story today.
[contribution author="Chaunk"]Realising this may be his last chance for victory, Chaunk salutes the crowd, and bows low before his opponant. "Morituri te salutant, eh Jamski." he mused, almost to himself.
He called for his running boy. "Get me my special gear. Now!"
"Sorry about this Jamski old boy, but it's just not cricket to kill an unarmed man." Said Chaunk, giving his sword and other armour to the boy.
"Well! This is a strange turn up for the books! The crowd is waiting with baited breathe, poised to see what's in store. This better be good! Ah the boy is back. He's brought out a helmet and a pair of gloves. Blimey charley that's quite some helmet! The spike on the top of that is almost as big as Chaunk himself, and those gloves are nothing to be sniffed at either - literally, they're covered in skunk!" said a rather surprised commentator.
"Let the fighting begin!"[/contribution]
Chaunk wastes no time in his bid for death or victory, lowering his head and charging towards his opponent. Jamski was prepared for this (it being just about the one and only possible tactic...), and he receives the blow on his shield, losing half of it in a great crunch. Jamski is thrown by the power behind the blow, and his response is spoiled, so he manages only a shallow cut across Chaunk's ribs.
Chaunk, however, was expecting something like this, and is able to reach up with his gloves and smother Jamski-San's face, causing him to gag and retch. While Jamski is preoccupied, Chaunk steps back and charges in with his helmet lowered once more. This time his aim is true and the spike pierces deeply into Jamski's bowels.
Jamski-San, with great effort, extracts the spike from his belly, and, turning his shield, inserts it into one of the larger pieces of bamboo. He is able to slide the shield down the spike, keeping Chaunk's head immobilised, and swinging his katana carefully to counter the wild struggles of Chaunk, slices a small chunk from Chaunks arm, hoping perhaps to lessen the utility of the gloves.
Jamski suffered 28 damage, leaving 27HP and Chaunk 19, leaving 7HP.
I'm accepting orders for round 11.
Well... I can't quite believe both contestants survived this round, but both of them must be running purely on adrenaline now. The arena around them must be literally running red with their blood (particularly from Jamski's scalp wound...).
