I can recommend Accelerated C++ by Andrew Koenig and Barbara E. Moo. Small book (index starts on pg 325), but very well written with practical examples. You should have at least some exposure to the proceedural aspects of programming in C++ before you start with it.

I have heard that the Stroustrup book focuses more on the esoterica of the C++ language than is useful for most programming applications, especially for beginners.

HoI that is a hard game!

Picked up a used game called Superpower not bad. Has many options in diplomacy. Already im tweaking AI files and using the editor for game mods.There is a new game caled Superpower 2 but has so many bugs and CTD they will be patching it till the mildde of next year. Call to Power2 is still many times better. Very hard to find something that is as good and enjoying.

The coders code and the playtesters test!

Real life seems to rear its ugly head and keep the people away from the Apolyton CtP2 forum. The latest playtest is almost on par with the CtP2 1.1 patch but there is still a lot of work to be done before we release an Apolyton Edition CtP2.

I liked the diplomacy in the game. Does not have as many options as Civ3 but what is there works for the most part. Maybe something could be done with the break agreement treaty. I know Peter Triggs worked on it for a new option . Others have stated that some things are hard coded like the tech pack and is a option you cant use.
