IMHO, I think many people are missing one point with this small ivnasion force somewhere else: You're talking about invading into the midst of GWT's productive core, possibly moments after they are invaded by us on a sensitive spot. If they have no iron connected, they will connect it within 1 or 2 turns. Meaning that they will immediately upgrade whatever horses are built in their core (as Ansars are quicker to move to the front), so that their core will be saturated with Ansars. Also, all builds will change to Ansars immediately, which over the course of those 2 turns means that excatly their core will build fresh units.
If you land 4-6 knights in their core, 2 turns after the main invasion, you will be met with 10-20 Ansars that can reach that invasion force. Those knights doesn't stand a chance. And this is assuming that the moment the main invasion starts, GWT will remove all their defenses from their core, and towards Rurhpott. Those 10-20 Ansars are freshly build, or upgraded.
So my view: either you attack Partemunde with sufficient force (at least as large as the Rughrpott attack), and preferably on the same turn, or you don't invade there at all. Since there is no option of getting such a force, it will be better to group our forces into one attack.
And second view: Either you mask the iron cut perfectly (meaning both road and mine present whenever GWT can look), or don't bother and spend workers on something that is only a half-solution.

I think I'll attempt to answer this (And this)

Here is a timeline of possible events
D-6: Gift Education to CFC (if GWT doesn't have it before this time).
D-5: Gift Astro to CFC, they do what ever upgrades that they can. IF they don;t have the funds for the upgrades, then we can give them Education now and Astro next turn.
D-4: 1 turn to Nav. All groups are ready to set off
D-3: Navigation. We gift Nav to CFC. Boats move
D-2: Boats moving
D-1: Group A ready to land next turn. CFC is still in deep Ocean waters. If GWT hasn't spotted us, we should have no problems.
D-day: Group A lands. CFC might get spotted this turn, but not likely.
D+1: Beachhead city built, Ruhrpott (FP) strike. Possible other strikes at Balkin and Elfenhain. CFC lands.
D+2: FP groups go for other possible target, depending on what is available. CFC starts their strikes. Parth Group Lands Ready.
D+3: Parth Group Strikes Lands. FP groups go for other possible target, depending on what is available. CFC causes more problems.
D+4: Parth Group Strikes. FP groups go for other possible target, depending on what is available. CFC causes more problems.
D+5: Everyone DeeDeeMao's.
Now, the possible GWT responce:
D-10: sees that we have cut our Iron.
D-6: if GWT/GCA have Theo before this turn, they might notice the cost of Education going down.
D-5/4: if GWT/GCA have Edu before this turn, they might notice the cost of Astronomy going down. Sees us reconnect our Iron.
D-3: If they notice, they will see that they can trade with us & CFC, knowing that we have Nav (This has been verified).
D-Day: Sees Group A on the beach. GWT changes production, possible Iron cut, rushes what is available to rush, which won't be ready the next turn.
D+1: Groups A/B strikes. Sees CFC group on the beach. Reconnects Iron, Upgrades Units rushed last turn (can't move). IT's likely, that they would be moved closer to the FP/CFC units before Upgrading.
D+2: Groups A/B causes more problems. CFC cuts Wine/North-South road. Possible Civil Unrest in some cities. Sees Parth Group on beach. Upgraded Units move this turn.
D+3: Sees Parth Group on beach. Parth Strike. Groups A/B & CFC causes more problems.
D+4: Parth Strike. Groups A/B & CFC causes more problems.
D+5: sees everyone gone.....

E_T, thanks for the summary. To the rest who apparently understands everything, especially the consuls who already know what is to be decided but tell us they do not :sarcastic: :
But why land the Parthemunde Group 2 turns after the Ruhrpott landing of Groups A and B? If Ruhrpott is our main goal, why then land the Parthemunde group later? Landing it later doesn't help the Ruhrpott attack much right?
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH THIS ATTACK? base the timetable of the various attacks by the three groups on your MAIN GOAL. Everything that is not involved in the main attack is to assist the groups involved in the main attack. There is NO USE in lettling them attack afterwards.
Please answer my questions and comment on what I say, then so that I can assist in this too!
Thank you very much!

Reason #1: timing. Simply, they can't get their in time
Reason #2: timing. IF GWT does have forces in that area, they will have moved them away from it, to go after the other 2.
Reason #3: timing. This group, IF there is a position from them to launch from (still remains to be seen, we will find out in a few turns), in the north, would get to that area 3 full turns before they could be launched from any other point in our know (to both us and GWT) maps. So, they might suspect a possible strike in this area, BUT it would be much sooner (3 full turns) than they would anicipate.
An oppertunity like this, only comes once. Let's try to make the best use of it that we can.

FYI: Yes we have. It was a decision made by Trip and myself during one of the many periods where you weren't paying any attention to this forum or the issues going on with this save.
Frankly, the reason why Plan #3 is not possible among the #1, #2, and #3 plans for expenses that E_T forwarded is the following:
Apolyton Money + CFC Money + CGN Money < Money required for Plan #3
In effect, the decision was really made for us.
For Plan #2, we would need Apolyton to spend ~800 gold, CGN to provide ~300 gold, and CFC to provide about 900 gold. CGN said they could provide up to 360 gold and CFC said they could provide up to 1000 gold, so we can tweak the numbers from each if CGN cities fall faster than expected and we need more from CFC. |
The 3 different plans dealt ONLY with what forces we could gather together, in the timeframe that is required for this, and the monies that would be needed to fully equip them.
THIS IS COMPLETELY SEPARATE from the issue of IF we send some of those units to Parth or not.
