Hi everybody. I'm brand new here--this is my very first post!
Since I still don't know what I'm doing, I was wondering if any of you could help me. Is there a tech tree I can print out? The package didn't include one when I bought it.
Thanks for your help!

That's too intelligent to be an average person...
What brings her/him to Apolyton?
What in her/his live causes her/him to come to Apolyton?
What other internet activities did she/he do before coming here?

LOL, thanks for the welcome, Enigma. Rest assured, I am, after all, just an average person. Yup. Just an average person with above average super powers....
Funny thing is, I stumbled upon Apolyton completely by accident. I was looking online to buy a copy of SMAC last week, discovered there was an expansion, and then discovered this site. Oh, it was a happy day.
Now that I'm here, I gotta say: You guys are nuts! (And I don't mean "nutrients"!) I never knew people analyzed the game like that. I have a lot of catching up to do.

In time, you will dislike me. Everyone here does.
As you can see, some mindless spammers have arrived on the scene.
What drives a man to spam? Is it the attention?
:/

There's a hidden subliminal message in your spam posts, isn't there?

Question: what drove you to seek out a copy of an decade old game?

That's kind of how it went. I played the game way back when it first came out (and before that I was a huge Civ I fan, but not as crazy as you guys of course!), and absolutely loved it for the brief time I played it. The problem was, it was my brother's friend's copy, which turned out to be a burned copy, so I stopped playing.
I haven't played any of the Civ sequels, and I'm actually not much of a gamer, but ever since then I've kept thinking, "Man, that was a bloody good game!" Well, something to that effect. Anyway, my brother, who is a diehard gamer, said to me the other day, "Why don't you just buy it instead of complaining that there haven't been any good games since?"
I was dumbfounded. I'd never thought of that before. So I bought the game, found this website and read some of the strategies, and I've finally learned, for the first time, the value and power of the crawler.
Thank you, thank you, you're too kind. And that's the end of my unnecessarily long story!

P.S.--By the way, what's with the bad blood around here?
