$DemoGame: Let's get started!!

It looks like we are going to have to have separate DemoGames as there are a quite a few people that don't want to have anything to do with a Feudal/$MiniGame based DemoGame.

Consolidating info from various threads:

RULES SO FAR:
- Note that new rules/ideas will most likely be proposed by members and then discussed/voted upon.

Offices and Elected Officials
The President would be elected by poll vote as in the previous DG's and that office Holder is the one to play the game.

The Vice President would be elected by poll vote as in the previous DG's and that office Holder is the one to play the game in case the President was unable to.

Land/Tile Aquisition
As soon as we have 110% or greater number of tiles as we have players, each member is allowed to stake a claim on one tile. (So if we had 20 players we would hold a tile claim once we had at least 22 tiles, this means even the last member has a choice of tiles.)

There will be a Claim Thread with a screen shot of our territory and each tile labeled. Claims will be recognized as first come, first served in that the first to post a claim wins the title to that tile.

The thread should be started by the President/Vice President or by a person elected to start the thread.

(I would also propose at this point that an Assayer be elected who will track and handle further land sales from this point on.)

After the initial land claim, a newly joined member may submit a claim upon joining the game for a single unclaimed tile. This final granting of title of this tile is up to the Assayer though. (The reason for the last point is should a newly added tile have some strategic resource like Gold or something. It would be more fair for the government to auction that off than for some member to join and get that tile as his/her free tile.)

The Assayer may hold Land Auctions from this point on but should always keep some tiles in government ownership for newly joined members to claim.

Use of Land and Tile Production
Would follow the $MiniGame rules. I would suggest we elect a Market Maker for each good who is responsible for tracking the market in each trading session and they either be given a salary or allowed to receive a $1 fee per unit sold in their market.

Spiffor suggested we not bid on the first tiles so it would be more fair.

It never got off the ground.

And I have no php/apache programming skills to do it myself. If someone were to make a simple database where we could input the info it would eliminate a lot of the work to operate it.

The new host I am moving my website too offers PHP and MySQL. I also have and Apache server on my PC that runs in the background on which I could test stuff.

My new webhost has unmetered bandwidth and 2 gigs of hardspace.

I could write a program to make it easier to track money and calculate income. But i don't understand exactly how the income system is supposed to work..

Its not to complicated early on. After everyone gets a good understanding of how it works (its actually fairly simple) it would be cool to get some tracking software though.

So how does it work? I've been a bit concered about balance issues. There must be some base tile income? And a bonus if it's being worked? This will make some peoples wealth to grow faster than others.. so there must be some balancing or suddenly a few lords would be the only one who could afford buying tiles. Like some tax/corruption the more tiles you got?

Also units, are they owned by the city or are each unit owned (not necessary controlled) by a feudal lord?
Improvements are built by the state, city or feudal lords? Do lords need to pay to make their tiles more attractive by improving them? If so, what happen when a lord don't want to buy improvements on a spot that is critical to the citys growth?

Will there be alternative ways of aquiering tiles? Like sending units into war for the sake of the country Or doing some importaint goverment work, etc.?
