	What after GWT? Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Let's assume the war goes well and we successfully hamper GWT what will our plans be afterwards? Are we going to go after CGN or CFC or are we going to finish the game peacfully?

This is just a surgical strike to cripple GWT.

We will eventually have to finish them off.

And GCA as well.

We will go back to peacetime stuff, with a semi-war buildup, as before. We will build towards our GA in 915 AD (turn 224) and take the fullest advantage from that as possible.

We will also be getting ready to build a huge Railroad network (should have steam power shortly after GA) and getting ready to fully take GWT on. This will require more units (Cav, Cannon & Muskets/Rifles) than we currently have. We also need to be ready for GWT from trying the same thing that we are going to be doing to them.

Lots of things in the works, some long term, some short & medium. All for the betterment of Apolyton....

THis sounds like effectively a reset - we sacrific x numbner of turns of our own production to take GWT back 2x, or 3x. Then we are in a much better situation to contest the win, especially since their GA is what pushed them ahead in the first place, which of course they cannot repeat.

The latter.

GCA will likely still be alive in some capacity (though they'll be destroyed along with GWT).

CFC and CGN are our vassals.

Nothing left to do but cruise to victory.

NM, there is still going to be a lot of work to do, before that point in time. But, if this does work out, then it gives a some breathing room to get things ready for the real war.

This thread does bring up an important point, however. We need to lock in the agreement with CFC to pursue a "shared" victory in one form or another.

Without such an agreement, Nuclear Master's question has far more importance for what happens after GWT... namely, that no alliance survives victory (not that we couldn't handle CFC, but they're bound to be asking themselves this question unless we clarify the answer for them).

I figure that if this strike goes even remotely well (ie: the FP is razed. Anything else is shear bonus), we can build a defensive military force (with key placed guards along our border to prevent the combat settler from being used). By the time they will be able to get to us, we should have steam power and a rail network put up. No matter where they land, they would have to face the entire Apolyton Army (plus whatever we let CFC or CGN use to help). All we'd have to do is make sure we build the UN and we should win.

I personally would NOT win because of the UN. It's just cheap IMO.

A win is a win is a win....

Whether you blow the other team out of the water or get by with the skin of your teeth it still counts as a "win"

There will be another war after this attack on GWT; count on that. Whom will be on whose side is what we should really be concerned with. If we can say that we have CFC locked to ourside, then we have the game in the bag if our attack against GWT now goes well.

I'd rather not win by the UN as well, but we have no idea what the political alliances will be in the future.

We should build the UN anyway, just to ensure the other teams dont build it and cast their own vote against us.

One alternative scheme is to wipe out GWT and GCA and then build the UN for a diplo victory. At that point we'll have destroyed all opposition, and with only our vassals left we will have won the game however you look at it. Making the UN victory actually legitimate.

You may consider winning by the UN cheap Nuke, but some of us would consider it a natural extension of our teams diplomatic abilities.

Especially in light of the fact that we had a crappy start and not a lot of muscle to negotiate.

GWT is no pushover. This attack and there demise is far from over.

You and the rest of us do not yet know what twists and turns this game may take.

1) Trip, we will not "cruise" to victory even if this strike succeeds. It will only make increase the odds of our victory. The going will not be easy at all and another major invasion of GWT will likely have to take place.

2) I personally don't see what's wrong with a UN victory. If by that time we are militarily and economically the #1 dog, it will merely seal our dominance. We would have to vote, in that case, if what we want is a diplo victory or continue playing until we win by other means.

You know what guys, lets worry about this AFTER the GWT attack, and AFTER its sucessfull and AFTER we have confirmed there FP wasn't rapidly rebuilt. (none of the above are guarentees)

Then lets argue about it.

There are several paths to victory, none of them will be easy.

I'd watch a UN victory also.

Hell, I remember when we were setting up the interteam PTWDG. There was a strong movement to not even select the UN victoy tag because everyone thought it would be immposible to achieve. Come on guys! I think a UN victory would be even more amazing than a military one. A military victory has a influenced primarily by the land you were given and how you cultivate it. It is a game mechanic. A diplo victory means that you have successfully managed to manipulate the minds and personalities of people to your favor all the while stabing them in the back.

A diplo victory is MORE impressive in a PBEM than a Military one.

Like i've said once and again, i was here from turn 1 and will be here until the last Apolytonian unit is destroyed or until we show GWT who's the boss. Be it military or diplomatic.


(and gauging from my main contribution to this team, it's obvious I share some sentimental attachment to winning by UN)
