That's right, it was Lion's Gate...but the executive producer was Johnathan Gordon, who also produced such Miramax films as Good Will Hunting, The Yards, and the upcoming Green Hornet, along with the Weinsteins.

On a different note, how things have changed at Disney. While looking through "Dogma" articles on IMDb, I found the following Harvey Weinstein quote:

"Disney is a target that's too vulnerable in a situation like this. They make family movies and a protest could hurt them unnecessarily."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120655/news (at the bottom)

Things certainly are different 5 years later.

Actually, the trouble is simply that Disney doesn't want to distribute it for him. Simply because showing any hint of anti-administration rhetoric is seen as "overstepping the bounds" or "taking sides", while they will never the less gleefully release any right-leaning production at the drop of a hat.

What Disney company are you talking about? Because the Disney company I know, provides equal benefits to employees regardless of sexual orientation -- last time I checked.

That certainly does not fit your description of Disney as having some sort of knee-jerk reaction in support of right-wing ideology.

Disney is not afraid of Xian fundies boycotting them. Disney is afraid of the Republican Party (like any smart person should be).

MOORE BRINGS DOWN HOUSE: LONGEST STANDING OVATION 'IN HISTORY OF CANNES' FOR BUSH BASH FILM:

20 mins standing ovation for FAHRENHEIT 9-11, yelling, screaming, cheering... 'This is the longest standing ovation in the history of the festival! Unbelievable!' declared Cannes stalwart Thierry Fremaux. Moore, raising fist, unable to speak over crowd, vows to fight... In mentining how fat moore is, teh reagan is hoping to discretely trivialise him, because we all know that fat people are not worthy of respect or consideration. They are only there for us to laugh at.

No no, this is not a subtle or not-so-subtle attack on Moore. If I wish to do so, I will attack his flawed productions. I was merely astonished when I saw the photo. He appears to have gained a substantial amount of weight from when I saw him in Bowling for Columbine.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I love listening to the Moore-hating morons. These pathetic dopes can't muster an intelligent response to the facts Moore presents so they attack his weight and call him names. It's almost more interesting to listen to Moore-haters than to read or watch Moore's works. These haters represent the lowest common denominator of stupidity... they often watch FOXNews and vote Republican. I love watching them squirm and froth at the mouth when confronted with the facts.

Suffering from ads?

You mean the 'facts' which have been blown out of the water time and time again when put under scrutiny, which causes the fat turd Moore to squirm and froth at the mouth in trying to make up more lies to cover up the lies we already know he says?

How unfortunate. Of course, this could have absolutely nothing to do with the negative view lots of people in Hollywood have on Republicans anyway? Especially with the Very Special Forces(tm) f--king up in guard duty?

It's a far right wing look at Jesus. Made the conservatives happy. Pissed off the Jewish leadership, which in the US tends to be liberal.

Disney does NOT like controversy, and it knew that The Passion would incite some.
