I'll believe this when I see you quit CGN in the C3C ISDG. |
As the MoI for CGN, I need only to be able to draw up plans and post orders. This can be done any time any day. As a consul I am required to do a number of things including play turns which I can't guarantee I'll be around for. I cannot continue the considerable team efforts which I have tried to put forward - coordinating with people, running stride with E_T watching economic matters, drawing up plans, engaging in and posting chats with other teams, being available in the chatroom to discuss things, drafting long-winded threads about everything under the sun... I can't do it any more.
On the CGN team I am not required to participate in chats, I am not required to play turns. Discussion is minimal. I post my plans, they get done.

I'll believe it if I had not seen all your exitement about this brilliant new plan to strike at GWT in just 15 turns, a plan not only conceived, but which is now being implemented and may very well be the key to success for our team in this demo game.
At least be honest to us and say the real reasons you are quitting when your participation and enthusiasm during the last couple of weeks is totally contrary to what you are saying now.
And sorry for being such a spoil sport, and sorry for these posts probably pushing you more towards resignation rather than reconsideration, and what worse, sorry if these posts sound more like an indirect begging for you to stay (which is partly true I admit), but like I said before, I just ain't buying it. |
I could be gone tomorrow without internet for 2-4 weeks. Would you prefer I just vanish without saying anything? I haven't said anything prior to this because I didn't know if I would have to leave or not. But now it's almost a done deal.
Have you even seen how inactive I have been? I haven't played a turn in a couple weeks. I haven't been at all involved in the war planning since the first couple threads were posted. And a lot has changed with the plan since then. Details have been hammered out completely independent of me. The Parthemunde strike (which I still disagree with) is basically a done deal. I resisted it back when it was first suggested, but I haven't lately. If I was the "same ol' Trip" then I'd be pounding that idea into the ground with all my might.
I haven't even posted all that much. The only thing I've done is been in the chatroom, and that's only because classes ended recently. The extent of my efforts was when the invasion was first suggested a couple weeks ago by Sharpe and I posted a few threads. Since then I haven't been around or done much at all, which I unfortunately must admit. Even if I had been staying things would probably not be too bright for my 2nd reelection if there had been a contender.
Here's my honest answer for you. The recent issue with E_T pulled the trigger, but the gun was already there and the ammo was already loaded. I can't do everything and a full-time job which will be my priority (rather than this game, which has been my priority for the past year, for better or worse). Even E_T sees things as they are. We were recently discussing housing options earlier today.
I never thought I'd be pointing out my inactivity in this game...
But as I said before, believe what you want. There's only so much I can say, and apparently nothing will convince you no matter what it is. What do you want me to do to convince you, scan you documents from my shrine about how I've become a Buddhist monk and am moving to Tibet?
You're suffering from the same fault that dooms the theory of psychological egoism, MZ. You can't see things being any other way than how you believe, meaning there is no opportunity for your beliefs to even have the possibility of being false.
But your opinion is your perogative.

Hehe, Zargon, Trip was saying in chat, that he was looking to see if he could borrow your closet..... But then, I had given him some options to explore with trying to find a place....
As it was, I just DIDN'T want you to have to deal with him, coming out of the Closet.....
If you have any info that you can send him, on finding fairly cheap & good housing, with Reliable Roommate, e-mail them to him at NeroTrip@comcast.net

Sorry if my posts were misinterpreted. What I was getting at is that whatever frictions people have amongst themselves, they are certainly workable and should never be reason enough to resign. Trip knows quite well I have sided with him very frequently and even when I haven't it's because out of this whole mess the team as an entity is the one to benefit from multiple, and even conflicting opinions. In short, more brains are better than one, even if the brains hate each other.
That said considering your consulate was just about over (what, less than 2 weeks?) you could've at least just said you weren't planning on running again... plus, at the rate the save is being played it's not like we'd be getting it more than 2-3 times during that lapse
But well, I won't say goodbye, since I know you won't resist being just a lurker, I will instead misquote MacArthur:
"Old HungryMen™ never die, they just fade away..."
