i'm a transplanted yank -- have been enjoyably stuck in Canada for years, but only for 3 more days.

I can't remember to put in all the "extra" u's, among numerous other differences.

I knew it! I get a fairly good start location for once and it's a restart!

I think I'll stick with the Byzantines. There are probably more worse civs out there (for example the friggin Portuguese ) than better ones.

ah, i'm happy someone called a restart my location was... well... dry... at least i had 2 tiles with 2 food.

i'd like to keep the dutch, but only if i can keep it for the rest of the restarts (as i tried to formulate earlier). if not possible, then random...

from the looks of that screenie and my turn, i presume the settings were archipelago, normal, arid, 4 billion years.

By the way, I forgot to mention that the difficulty level was Monarch. I assume that's OK?

It's currently just past the end of my slot time, so I will send the new game to Rommel2D now. Sorry if you wanted your old civ and you didn't get a chance to say so! (But I don't imagine the Japanese and Arabs are worth keeping anyway).

I think it's OK to post it here. If we wanted to cheat, there are plenty of ways (after all, everyone gets their first turn without passwords for subsequent players), so we can't be concerned with such things, IMO.

I posted a first save in another game and it was downloaded 6 times before I could blink.
