I think getting Rasheed is more vindication for drafting Darko than even Prince's great performance. Prince has been playing the 2 on defense mostly, so Mello definitely could have still fit in on the squad. (anyone's guess on how attitude wise that would work)

Thing is Dumars knew the perfect fit for his team was a long, lanky 3-4 who could post up, play D, and shoot from the outside... Darko (in a few years). Just turns out he found Rasheed available to fill that role right now, and it's definitely shown that the vision for what the team could be was right on.

True, but Prince would have backed up Mello. So the Pistons would have had either Hamilton or Mello guarding the 2, the other on the 3. Neither Rip nor Mello could have defended Kobe (or Rip Artest in the East Finals, for that matter) nearly as well as Tay did.

Watching the post-game interviews Prince only got 2 questions. They didn't even ask the "Mello vindication" one... I think all the journalist's brains are still trying to recover from the realization that the Lakers weren't the better team.

I'm not sure what's better, the fact the Pistons won, or that the Lakers just got completely spanked...

This could be the start of something special. Most of the players are still in their prime, or have mucho potential like Prince and Darko. Brown looks like he might here to stay for a while, and if that's the case they could be atop the league for years to come..

Funny that Karl Mallone never won a championship, but his daughter just did, and she played for Detroit. Its Shocking.

Phil Jackson has left, Kobe and Shaq now both want to leave. Detroit doesn't just beat teams, they totally destroy them. Good job guys!

The Lakers are RETARDED.

They are dumping Phil Jackson and Shaq in favor of Kobe. Kobe is nothing but a virus for the team who brings so much baggage and poor team play with him. He hits a miracle shot now and then but does crap like miss most of the rest of his shots.

They've made their bed now watch as the organziation continues to unravel and they go down with it.

Shooting guards who can hit big shots are a dime a dozen. Players like Shaq only come along every 20 years and coaches like Jackson once every 50. Kobe is the most replaceable player on the team and SHOULD be dumped because of his baggage. Put a Paul Pierce or a Tracy McGrady in there, they are just as good if not better than Kobe and can actually play team ball and don't have all the damn baggage that comes with him.

Dumbasses.

Probably right. They have no chance of doing anything decent in the playoffs, and Kobe makes all sorts of crazy shots that people like to watch and also the drama of his situation makes it interesting.

That is, for people who like to watch a circus and not real basketball. (Most casual fans - meaning most LA fans).
