Name your Warship. Tired of ads?

Here in San Diego, the Diegans are somewhat pleased that the new LPD is going to be named San Diego. By that token, there have been some people (me included) that are pissed beyond all reason that the new American carrier is going to be named George H.W. Bush. I was hoping for Ranger or Independence.

Now I read that the Future Carrier (CVF) for the RN is going to be called Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales.

So, if you were put in charge of naming fine warships (I mean large warships, not dinky Frigates) what names would you pick?

For me:

we already had a Ranger and Independence

I think the Indy was fairly recent as well. The Ranger was a bit older.

I would like to see another USS Nevada

the only battleship to make it out of Pearl habour in december of 1941. Although I think it was so badly damaged it was scrapped.

But I think state names are still reserved for battleships.

Although since none are in service and none are being built, I think they should go to carriers.

I am surprised they named an LPD- San Diego.

I thought city names were reserved for Los Angeles class attack subs.

Usually those amphib ships are named after marine actions in various pacific locations in WW2.
