Default doesn't hurt your eyes?! Of course, you probably don't have your monitor's brightness setting on the lowest possible notch at all times, nor do you live in a room with only two small windows which are covered most of the time. But I do opine that my eyes would jump out of their sockets and try to use their respective optic nerves to strangle me if I tried to browse with the default theme.

Sir yes sir! Winters are a double-edged sword. On the other hand, it's dark most of the time - at best it's dark when I go to school and getting dark when I go back home.

On the other hand, I have and will have lots of long breaks in the middle of my school days the coming semester, and on those breaks I tend to walk the two minute trip back home to enjoy some quality time with my computer. On those journeys, the sun can be shining very brightly, with white snow everywhere... I can't see a thing, and prefer to keep my eyes closed, I jest you not. I know the path so well that I can navigate it with limited eyesight. I am convinced that I've developed light allergy of some kind, the tradeoff is that I can see much better in the dark.

I really hope I'll be able to get a part-time job on a night shift when I start uni, you get paid pretty well and it'd fit my favoured diurnal rhythm perfectly. Mornings on lectures, days in bed and nights cleaning/guarding/whatnot. Not that I need the money (that's why we have so high taxes, to feed poor students) but extra is always extra.

't Was the only one I had to do this month. Actually, in this week of the year I prefer to do nightshifts since there is a streetfestival in my hometown ATM. This time mostly I had to work early in the morning. The whole week I slept barely 4-5 hours on average. Man, am I exhausted now...

Heh... I remember at the end of my one stint working a night shift I had to the very last day stay up over 24hrs because I was also needed to participate in the parade that happened in the afternoon. Wasn't worth anything for about a day afterward... thankfully I was only 17 at the time so I bounced right back.

Actually, my curtains are perminatly closed and my brightness is set quite low. There isn't enough difference between MOO3 writing and background, so it strains my eyes trying to read it. Default has a light background (but not bright white) and dark lettering, so is easy to read (for me )

Then try 21:00 --> 07:00-08:00 shifts...
It's a major reason I don't want to work fulltime anymore in this job...

What job?

The worst bit of the barman one was the lack of breaks. Any. It's fast paced, there's always a huge queue of people waiting for drinks, and it's a relief when you get to pour a pint (about 10 seconds peace). But it is a buzz, and you do get a chance to show off and music to listen to.

Well, since I'm attached, I couldn't take advantage of that And being that it's a cocktail bar (and thus quite expensive), most of the women were a bit older than me (mid twenties mostly). But yes, I have seen barmen go to perform an 'extra service'

I've been a barman too. What really stinks is the huge wad of cash you have to lug home at the end of the evening...er, I should say, before it gets light enough out that your hangover develops prematurely......

Sadly, being a barman there wasn't like that They pay £5 an hour, and tips aren't really used in bars in the UK. You have to work long hours to make a living
