And this thread is to encourage roleplay within our faction.
What to do for roleplay? Join In-Character Stories (sign up here).
Be a member of Debating Team (signup also here, details in Pholus Lunar Broadcast #2). Write for Voice of the Planet.
The very least thing you can do, is to put into your sig that you are member of Gaian Union (eg Lord in Gaian Union, along with any titles you may have) plus on of your in-character quotes or Deidre quotes (non-classic ones, or fictional ones are encouraged). You can see my example of it in this very post.
List of non-classic Deirdre quotes (gonna be updated soon):
In the end, our devotion to Planet is driven by faith. While the other factions prosper by carelessly devouring the wealth of Planet, we stand firm in our belief that Planet has moral significance of its own. They gain strength from plunder. We gain strength from the beauty and value of the thing we serve. --Lady Deirdre Skye, "Arguments in Council"
In ancient times the members of our own family and tribe were human, but all else was a dangerous Other. Our entire history can be considered a process of pushing this boundary back, toward a point at which nothing that thinks can be said to be alien to us.
-- Lady Deirdre Skye, Arguments in Council
---following is being made up by me
Other factions are blind when it comes to see the obvious: the one who adapts best to the environment shall win the battle. Military potential of the native lifeforms we have encountered is fantastic. What can you do against an army that can hide itself in the wilderness, use planet-spanning network of roads inaccessible by ordinary means, an army that no wall or armor can stop, an army that is capable of healing and supporting itself, an army that disregards any technology parity? --Lord Darris, captain in Gaian Defense Forces, Annual Report to Council of Lords
Not for one man, one people or one nation, but for all of mankind and Gaia. --Lady Deirdre Skye, Planetfall

Not to nitpick (OK - I will anyway), but Our Fearless Leader’s name is Deirdre.
I would like to offer the services of a few mindworm characters I developed back in the Spartan Chronicles. They were a blast to write for, and they may find a place in the ACDG 3 role-playing.
Bios:
"Ehm" (pronounced as it is spelled) was a mindworm built in Morganite biology labs. Somehow they managed to keep it alive, but it was never really healthy or happy until the Gaians liberated him (in SC it was a bribe by Morgan). It speaks and thinks like a very smart child, and is very small (about the size of a basketball). Ehm likes to be with people and is comfortable in human cities and vehicles. Being stuck between worlds it is a good intermediary between Planet and humans.
“Fluffy” is a former feral mindworm, and likely the first or second ever captured by the Gaians. He is very picky about the humans he associates with and only communicates with one or two humans at any one time. His mode of communication is decidedly non-human, being more a direct transmission of emotion than speech. He can be playful, in an annoying sort of way, with those he likes, but is a deadly enemy. As with most former feral mindworms he does not like human cities and prefers to be in xenofungus, where he will happily hunt feral mindworm or those persons his Gaian friends name as enemies.

I'm a little unclear on this concept. Is this a formalized debating format with Propositions, plans, rebuttals, and closing arguments? Or is this more informal, like my painful and pointless 'debates' with EN or the friendly discussions on the ACDG boards from recent weeks? Or, is this internal?
Could someone explain?

Interesting example (Hive-Uni/Drones on nerve stapling), but it seems rather thin on argumentation and long on characterization/role playing. The 'winner' seemed to be the best role player, too.
Or, is that the point?

It depends on what the topic is really.
There's not really much to argue on nerve stapling since it's a techonology that is not well defined. When I think of debates I see two kinds, silly ones or serious ones. The teams voted for the silly debates last time.

Should this be interactive, with other storylines being at least acknowledged and coordinated with current storylines? Laurentius’ story is fun, but will be rather challenging to integrate with subsequent threads.
How about severely twisting/bending/breaking the ‘rules’ of SMAC/X? Is this common in ACDG fiction and/or roleplaying? (I know that some SMAC/X rules were bent broken in the long past Spartan Chronicles (I was in the losing purist faction, but eventually came around); changes were done in a deliberate manner, though).
