Realistic doesn't change the number of opponents.
It does change the number of goodies you find though.
The first laser sight I found for my rifle was in HK IIRC.

That guard outside the cell is fairly easy to take out if you do it in stages, ie: sneak to the desk first and hide in the shadow underneath.

you can fight(that is them if we are thinking of the same place) but you have to be pretty good. i think i managed to do it on hard or whatever setting below realistic is(never tried realistic yet). there is pretty good cover and you can always run away(the bots don't seem to follow) so you can try again after they calm down. iirc you can also hack a computer so some bots fight for you.

If you mean the military bots, you could try fighting, but there really isn't any point. Getting behind them is child's play, and once you get inside, you can use a security computer to deactivate them.

I like setting the end save-game up so that to complete any ending you only need to do a simple thing like enter a single code or such. Isn't too hard once you get the UCs closed.

Yeah, that's the way to go.

I had quite a time with the final level, I remember that I kept running out of everything. I had to calculate my use of multitools and ammo very carefully and tried to exhaust any other options when opening locks and whatnot. Fun.

Well, you're unlikely to get any girls if you're a small cloud of gas floating around in the upper atmosphere, and you probably won't be very interested once you've merged with Helios (although you might well discover other things that are even more ejnoyable), so I'd advise you to go with the Iluminati ending.

I had heaps of some types of equipment that I just didn't use. Light darts, phosphorus rockets, shotgun shells, I never tended to use these things at all during the game.

WHAT!? How could you possibly not use those things? They absolutely slaughter groups of infantry, and they have the added benefit of setting people on fire and causing them to run around screaming and igniting other things.

While the sniper rifle is god once you get it up to 100% accuracy, I'd like to see you use it to take down squads of guys who emerge at medium to short range without getting severely injured. I'd also like to see you use it around a corner.

Given that on realistic a single pistol shot to the torso can put you down, and a few assault shotgun slugs or a couple of AR bursts will have the same effect, yes, you should most certainly worry about injury. Regen is only useful if you remain alive to use it.

The proper use of a sniper rifle is to ensure that there are no enemies left alive in the medium to short range by the time you actually get to the area. Take them out before they are even aware of you. I have played the game through on realistic.

Yes, I believe you said that, and, yes, nailing enemies before they are aware of you is always to be preferred... however, in many of the indoor areas (the shootout at the 'Ton and Area 51 spring to mind), this is basically impossible. Given a WP rocket is capable of killing entire elevator-loads of bad guys, or clearing corridors with great efficiency, they can come in very handy.

I assume you mean the AR? I tried it out once or twice, once I actually found myself some HE ammo, but given that the GEP gun could as much and more as the HE rounds, and the standard ammo from the AR is utterly useless, I could never justify lugging an AR around solely to use HE shots.

Its been a while since I played, so the names may not be accurate. I found the standard bullets useful as well. A few into someone's head generally worked well, plus the abundance of ammo for it makes it useful.

I always found that it required half a clip to a full one to actually kill anybody, and the recoil precluded for headshots. If I want to shoot people in the head, I'll use a pistol or sniper rifle, or a crossbow, for that matter.

Suffering from ads?

sniper rifle is probably the most powerful weapon in the game if used right. if you have infinite ammo for it the game would be so easy it'd be boring. iirc you were limited to only being able to carry a small number of rockets, right? i also really like the stealth pistol w/ lots of mods and fully skilled.

Inflate your Upload Space

You do small bursts of fire with the AR and not only do you conserve ammo for your kills, but recoil doesn't have much effect on your aim for that small period of time. Crossbow's own in the early part of the game.

Recoil isn't a problem if you train with rifles. When I played through and specialized in rifles my laser sighted and silenced AR was unstoppable. Pistols are prefered early in the game for quick head shots, but I found that in the later stages a pistol couldn't kill in a single shot, no matter what, and an AR actually does the job quicker in those circumstances.

Oh, and when you're fully trained with a modded rifle you can put an entire clip of bullets right into someone's head with ease. Does wonders for the bosses and other tough enemies.
