any mac user for call to power ? Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

hi everybody

just few questions ...

- is there some mac CTP players around ? i like playing civ3 but my favourite game is still CTP but ... i know many mods are pc made and multi platform playable but is there somone who still makes mods for CTP1 b'cause for mac users, CTP2 is unreachable - and i find it's hard to find some information related to CTP1 files and how to mod them ...

- is it possible to have a CTP multiplayer game with pc users ? if so, could somebody tell me where to join a game one day or another and how to do with the files ? it would be nice
i saw a tool for PBEM files between pc and mac and i'd be glad to know how to play a PBEM game !!!

thanx to all and hope to find some other mac CTP players

There are some good CtP mods out there... JBytheways' Mars mod for example. Then the fast start mod of Keygen's and Hatchsy's one free tech mods are all great too.

Though all but the Mars one are generally just used for PBEM purposes.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

yes i was really intereted in mars mod and i asked in a thread ( don't remember wich one !!! i'm a bit lost in apolyton sometimes )

quote:

blackgryffin asked :
is this mod can be installed on a mac ? if so, i'll be glad to install it and play it

J Bytheway answered :
It can be installed on a mac, but unfortunately you can't get the v1.21 hack for the mac so you can't load scenario save games properly which means you can't play PBEM. The only way to play this would be hotseat or internet and all in one go.

but promised ! i do not despear ! by the way : thanx to answer flameflash ! i found the mac forum a bit ... empty

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

here is a problem i met and hope i resolved ... for all mac users

ok ... after a huge brainstorming and many manipulations, i got a clue for what's happened getting the message error in another post ... in another thread here

this is mainly for macusers who play with pc users i think but if Blackice could open the files i send to him and if Blackice has a pc, then i can reasonably think it's rather a matter of mac users but if pc users met such a similar strange thing ... so ...

MAC PBEM USERS : YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE

here the window of the mail app on panther ( X 10.3 ) - don't know if the problem would be similar on jaguar ( X 10.2 )

as you see, we can put 2 files with drag and drop on our desktop and too click on the save all button ( "tout enregistrer" on the image )

most of time, no problem at all with the drag and drop action ... once the file is on the desktop, we drag it on mac transmogrifier ( the guy who made this app is a saint !!! ) and then, we can play our turn on a pbem challenge.

BUT ................. it seems that sometimes, it happens some strange problem coming from outer space ( it happened to me all day long !!!!!! )
the file i want to play doesn't open and i got a message error

980424-JRL-013 - Unable to read same game file
Load Game Error

of course, if the other challenger doesn't play with the same CTP : the error message is a "normal" thing

but if the challenger has the same CTP and no file has been changed in both games ... what to do except pick own hair away ?

then ... today, i tried so many times to play those files i couldn't open whithout changing anything to my CTP i finally found why ( hope so ! )

as i said before, most of time, no problem at all with the drag and drop action but today, i couldn't open almost all games i received ... and tonight, when i click on the button "save all" instead of the drag and drop, miracle ! they succeed to open as usually !!!

cool isn't it ?

so there it is, the virtual adventure of my day

hope i'm going to play and have fun now ... still 2 turns of 2 different games that i didn't test yet ...

Increase Your PM Length

All I know, is when that error happens to me (and I use Entourage in X.3) it's simply a fluke, though Mail may make it happen more often (same with the drag/drop function).

I always save my PBEM games by hitting the save button, though

* FlameFlash shrugs.

The only way to fix the error message, for me, is to have the player replay the turn and send it back over. I've talked with the guy that made the transmogrifier and he's pretty sure that there's something in PC CtP saving that fellow PC players don't always get hurt by but our Macness notes it and makes it so we can't open the file every time.
