What's the deal with guys playing female characters in RPG's? Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

If it is truelly roleplay, does that mean they want to be girls? I'm just curious. I'm not exempt, I have played female characters.

any psychologists or wannabe psychologists want to comment?

1.) The female character possesses abilities they want. Their choice is purely strategic.
2.) They are perverts who want breasts.
3.) They are trying to play all the classes available.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Well in tribes atleast people rationalized it by saying that female characters were smaller and harder to hit. This was of course false and there were 2 patches where female characters took extra damage from blaster/plasma weapons.

or more likely its the breasts like verto says.

The only reason Perfect Dark was so popular is because the hero had breasts.

3. b) The game is different with a female, thus making a second run (more) interesting. How about ramping up charisma and seducing your way out of tight spots? (I'm not sure if that's possible in any of the games out there at the moment though.)

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I also did it in Fallout2, but in that game females could do things men couldn't. Such a great game.

But I was playing in KOTOR. kind of pointless. Women can do everything men can do

I guess it's nice to look at the breats. But sometimes I just have Bastila walk around with no clothes. It's kind of funny she addressed the jedi council with no clothes on (except her undies)

Because there aren't enough girls in fantasy-lands, playing as one confers special status to these people.

I've played as a female in numerous Legend of the Red Dragon games merely because it made my character much more popular... and it allows for more role-playing.

Besides, girls are better than boys

Because people sometimes think you're actually a girl

I know in the Wheel of Time MUD, their are a bunch of female channelers (because male channelers go insane and are automatically hunted by everyone).

So guys can project their ideal female into a character they can control.

I mean, how many ugly female characters are out there? Not too many, I imagine.

I usually play a b*tchy/flirty one pretty much the opposite of myself (though I am somewhat flirty) so I guess for some, it's a psychological release so that they can be something different- at least in my case

I forgot the other one- the character who "does what I'd really like to do", and being female makes it easier to make the leap into something different, since genderwise she's already different. kind o' like what DC said.

Hey, I had a bunch of female RPG characters. Usually in my case, the males were more powerful, but the females more interesting.

Yeah, I have to admit the breasts are usually the reason for going for a female character. Except for Fallout and Arcanum. That was story based too since gender actually mattered there. Every other game was just for the breasts I think. Even used Safana's pic for BG since that had the most cleavage...even though it wasn't that much.

No, it means their character is a girl.

What is the problem with a man roleplaying as a girl? The whole point of roleplay is that you are becoming someone else.

In arcanum it only made sense to play as a female
And I thought it was amusing to wear a dress that had AC 3

(Idiotically, in my first game I tried to make a man wear the dress just to see if he would wear it... it turned out I had wasted 200 gold or so on it though since the game would let me buy but not equip )

Why are you people limited to computer RPGs?

Anyway, in Wizardry, there is a class Valkyrie, which is open only to female characters.

Not just RPGs. Any games with stats, females are usually better for some ppl.

game designers stereotypically design females with stats like speed, agility, dexterity etc etc while males get mostly power and etc. Or their body is slender with its a game that considers hitzones etc....

I find myself picking females most of the time because theyre just better than males in most stat games.

I do it for the diversity. It all started when I played fighting games like Mortal Kombat and I noticed I tend to prefer female characters due to their speed advantage. It goes well with my playing style.

In RPGs, I do it for the novelty of it, for something different.

Alto on online RPG games such as MUDs, I do play females I don't deliberately seek cybersex or maintain a 'relationship.' I just find it too werid. I don't even do it when I play male characters either.

I plays girls half the time

my freind plays girls all the time

it is true roleplay something that I am not, although usually I do a poor job of doing a different sex
