The Status of Forces Agreement (SoFA) requires that all US military personnal be tried in US military courts. It is a legal treaty which both parties have signed. Of course some nationalist politicians use the publics ignorance of this to beat nationalist drums but legally the Americans are correct.

Because of the Status of Forces Agreement that had been in force for decades. Nothing was new. You can't change the jurisdiction that cases fall under ex post facto like that.

Actually when we go shopping my gf tells the vendors that they should be nice to the foreigners and gets a better price with me than she could alone. Koreans are very into making their country look good for foreigners.

The so called "fascists" of South Korea's Junta is why South Korea is not a third world shithole today. South Korea was traditionally the poorer part of the pennisula , and after the Korean War was left completely devestated. The South Korean regime was able to do one of the great modern economic miracles and industrialized South Korea from practically nothing.

Just look at how prosperous South Korea compared with complete destitution of the North, and only a fool would claim the South would be better off without our presence in the area.
