I'm not sure about making them one community, but I would like to have the ability to subdivide my empire into provinces, states, territories, regions or whatever you want to call administrative zones. Have a 1 per region allowed improvement for the regional capital that reduces corruption somewhat and work in different advantages for numerous small regions and for a few large ones, and I think it would add some interesting possibilities.

Yes even that would be a start!

I was also thinking of the Z O C (Zone of Control) I mean for real, not that this game is "Reality" (I mean a little maybe) but say you have 50 cities and a small 4-7 tile area and the ai build there..

I would like it say if maybe, maybe it was possible if your controlled "BLANK" percentage of a territory a civilization couldnt build a city couldnt there...

Not to say if a civilization had 12 cities along a line you coulndt build to their south

JUST NOT within their already developed territory!

Encroachment I tell ya..

aint they ever heard of "Setbacks"....its right thar in the code book!!

I think Civ3 already gives plenty of mechanisms by which to keep those AI cities from popping up in the little hole in your territory, one being illustrated nicely by your attachment. Honestly, since I went to a tighter (C-x-x-C) city spacing as the norm, it hasn't been a problem. Besides, I don't want to introduce a system that's going to limit my settler encroachment on land near the AI borders in the early REX phase.

Sure..Id just like it whereas when you have whatever the magic number is, maybe 3-5 cities and turn them into a metroplois and be able to rename it as such..much like a county or province..

Just an idea I would like to see

A country may have regions like this. But how is it when it comes to a civilization? It is not like if you decided how each region will decide to form. Just try to find out who decided that Muslims would be divided between Syria, Iraq, Iran and so on :P

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Actually, T.E. Lawrence teaches that Muslim people are so different among themselves and since they keep continuosly fighting, there was a NEED to separate Muslim wolrd in different countries such as Syria Iraq etc. Coexistance between them is impossible, apparently; each tribe fights with each other.

No doubt about that at all, but remember that the lines drawn divvied up some tribes and forced some into coexistence, sometimes doing both to one tribe. The Kurds are a good example... but now we're going OT, so I'll stop there.

If you go around attaching huge political pictures to your posts, you have to expect to get people asking you to keep things on topic. Especially when they aren't even relevant to the thread.

I believe there are other forums available if you want to post political stuff.

I did not really understood what terrorists have to do with what I said... anyway they do not have something to do with civilizations being divided into many countries, right?

What I said is that a civilization is not a country with regions. It is a civilization which, like Arabs, Chinese or all others, can be divided in different countries. It's not a matter of national divisions like regions.

Well Muslims have "Extremists" called Terrorists that wage "JIHAD" or UN-Holy Wars but not all Muslims are Terrorists..which I was saying in both of my posts, the one with an attachment and this one we are referring to..
NOT ALL MUSLIMS are terrorists which I agree, BUT the ones that are do not exists in my civilization games, no we are after all more civilized, we just use Jet fightres to bimb innocent civilians and Nukes to barbecue the whole neighborhod

Ok..enough politics enough territorial disputes over west bank ..east bank...

Lets go with Left bank.."Just walk away Renee" 1960's song btw..

Ok..I said my piece and explained what i meant versus what wuz said..

Suffering from ads?

I don't bother about if there are or not terrorists in Civ. All I say is that civilizations are not only in one administration. Look at China, which is one civilization, and you will see that it got divided in many administrative pieces ("countries") even if it is considered as one single civilization.

This is kind of what I want, only with a somewhat screwy scale. Civilizations don't grow under one all-encompassing government in the RW, but they do in civ. Therefore, when I subdivide, say, my Scandinavian Empire into Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Bikini Team Zone and Solomheimland, they aren't independent nations, but administrative regions, more like provinces or counties. Each one has a capital/seat that helps reduce corruption, and it allows a little bit of history to be written into a snapshot of your empire.

During a war, conquered cities could be considered territories, perhaps with high corruption consequences or other pitfalls, and once the population was pacified, and maybe sufficiently assimilated, you'd be free to either leave it as a territory or integrate it fully as part or parts of existing regions, or carved into new regions. One possible wartime difference could be the loss of a territory city not causing WW. Maybe roads and railroads in territories could be partially or wholly accesible to your enemy (I doubt I like that one).

I'm just throwing things out, but there are definitely some interesting directions this could go. I think corruption's an interesting concept, with far more fun potential than the current model allows for.

as do I agree..

on that I am playing a bunch of PBEM game is CTP and the enemy is using MY Railroad system..and maybe too hard to do, but it would be cool if you could say have a penaly for the rr further out nad also if an enemy uses it charge them a price..or they dont get the benefits??

maybe too far fetched though..
