1200BC to Aqua.

quote:

As a further example of your dishonourable intentions, I give you 2 more inconsistent quotes from your own hand:

quote:

All you had to do was stay outside my territory & we would still be at peace.

Which is rather inconsistent with......

quote:

You are the major threat in this game at this time so there is no possibility of peace between us.

...wouldn't you agree?

Actually I think those statements are not inconsistent.

Before you pushed too far you needn't have ended up in a war against Greece, just perhaps the Celts and we Mayans. The Greek leader Bogor has told you why he declared - you didn't keep out of his lands. Once he did so, and after I had done so as well, we began talking about our mutual problem and it was soon realised by Greece that you had been undertaking aggressive expansionistic actions for some time against me. This naturally enough further alarmed Greece, which is why you are now considered the major threat in this game.

You may only be able to directly threaten your immediate neighbours at this time, but your style of play this game was sending a clear message, and by threatening a neighbour and trading partner (the Mayan nation), you threaten the Greeks as well.

In essence, it has been your refusal to respect established national borders of at least two nations that has led to this state of world war - first by bluntly entering Greek territory you had no permission to enter, then perhaps refusing to leave when requested to, and secondly by claiming Mayan sovereign land as your own. It was only after these events that Greece and the Mayans declared war on you - so how is it that there can be any difference of opinion over who started what?

I do not wish to see you stamped out and the Iroquois people subjugated, I just wish to see stamped out of the Iroquois leadership the dangerous preponderance to offending their neighbours, for the Iroquois to recognise that such policies must be reversed, and for the Mayan people to get their fair share. Then there can be peaceful cooperative development. It's not hard to comprehend.

Although I cannot speak for the Greek or Celtic populations, this is all the Mayan people are interested in pursuing with this war - it is you who have decided this is about destruction and conquest.

I am simply annoyed that you razed my town, and wish some small form of reparations. That is all - I do not wish to conquer your people.....though I am clearly too weak to take on all of you

As for the Western front.....Lord Paddy, I have diverted sufficient troops to the Western front to deal with your Archers if you insist on continuing to attack me there.

Searching for a flat to live in.

Will play this if I have time tomorrow morning between the jog and the flathunting, else it's the afternoon.

And Chief Aqua, you do realise that for every Mayan/Greek soldier killed, somewhere down the line there will be 10 Iroquois warriors killed or enslaved?

The weight of inevitability makes what you have been trying to do utterly hopeless.

Well, either that or you play THE single greatest civ game of anyone's life, ever.

Ah yes, oh powerful Mayan Lord....the tide is clearly turning in our war. May I now beg for peace?

But look......one must merely press F11 and one can see that it is the Greeks who are the largest nation on earth, not the Iroquois. Yes, I know you love to wax lyrical about how your alliance is as strong as the rocks in the earth and nothing the Iroquois Chief can say will shake your confidence in each other, yet look at the evidence, former friend. Greece is the largest nation on earth and possesses the Pyramids, meaning they will only grow larger. I venture to suggest you have been hoodwinked, kind sir

Remember Troy? Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.....

1075BC on to the mighty Greek

* MrWhereItsAt shrugs

Greece didn't take any of my land. In fact they've been quite generous with portioning it (not that the jungle there is of any use to anyone, being far from capitals and useless land ATM).

Should I be worried about the biggest guy who helps me out, offers me gifts etc, or the second biggest guy who was sneaky enough to find a way to screw me without declaring war?
