I have used the ignore feature, but stopped doing so when I wanted to read replies to other posters... in other words, I put posters on the list but didn't at heart want to ignore them.

The ignore list is useless for two reasons:

- You still see the posts of the person you ignore, and the ability to read them is only one mouseclick away
- You can't ignore moderators

I've got two people on the ignore list:

-One person who just kept making me mad... not because of his view, but because of the way he posts his view
-One person who uses copy/paste all the time... I've seen lots of posts by this person, but they all just had one thing to talk about


I've been able to avoid both posters for the past year though... mostly at least

I have put a few Civ3 whiners on ignore, because their posts were really too much noise in otherwise interesting discussions.

But I couldn't help but read every post by the most entertaining among them (Coracle). The other Civ3 whiners I ignored are likely to be DLs, or short lived posters.

I ignore only one person in the OT, because he once proven he was a horrible *******, completely devoid of respect for other human beings. Two other people nearly made it to the list for the same reason.

I have a strnage story about my ignore list.

It happened only once that I put someone on it.
Each of his posts drove me crazy, made me overreact and I needed hours to cool down. So for my own sake, I had to ignore him.
Strangely, after that, I never heard of him anymore. I first thought it was ok, all his posts are now, just ... invisible. But what about the answers others may post?
I made some Poly archive search on his name, no result, zero, nada.
So I thought: maybe you are not allow to search on posters that are on your ignore list...
When I checked my ignore list, I noticed it was empty ?!?!?

I still do not know, why my ignore list is empty, and where the posts of that guy have gone.

And then, a few weeks ago, I saw a post from a complete unknown poster.
At the place of the text, was a clickable widget labelled "this poster is on your ignore list, click here to view his post' (I don't remember the exact text).
So I thought this is him, under another ID... but when I checked my IL, it IS STILL COMPLETELY EMPTY ?!?!?!?!!?

Or maybe it was Markos. Everybody ignores Markos, it's a default feature

I have two people on ignore. In both cases, it's a combination of their professed beliefs and the manner in which they choose to post them.
