Closed accounts go on ignore. I once read an old post and Hodad was on ignore (and I think derek) although I never put them on ignore.

I have one person on ignore for making vicious comments about my brother and his wife. Other than that, there's another person who I've been considering for awhile, due to his 'total jerk' method of commentary...

I used to despise the ignore list.

But after spamming CFC for three years, there turned up this total jerk, who would jump into any discussion and harp along about how the rest of Europe should be thankful for the how the US protects (present tense) them from the military ambitions of Germany. I just couldn't stand him, so after a couple of days he went on my ignore list, and I've not regreted it.

He got permabanned a while later.

I've never had anyone on my ignore list here at 'Poly.

"Background noise" posters go on- the people whose posts are the written equivalent of a faint yet insistent humming sound. I might waste precious seconds reading their tedious witterings if it weren't for the ignore list. There are 4 curent names on mine.

On the other hand, the hostile and aggressive types are my joy and pleasure. I'd never ignore them.

For a while, it was a pain in the keister to get one person on the ignore list, because the spelling of his old name wouldn't allow you to just put his name in by typing it in (it was the apastrophe). You had to go into the main listing of posters and go about 80 pages in to find him. Of course, soon afterward he changed his name (again).
