If all you're using is a single card from your hand then you need to know that there's a good chance somebody else has an equivalent card...

OK, final tally for the day.

Bought in $100, cashed out with $403. Net profit, $303.

Weekly profit, $683.

Gotta love the Internet - I just paid my rent in three days of "work", and I still have $60 to go celebrate

They're comparable given that my bank account is large enough (generally over 2-3k) that the fluctuations don't matter. Also, you get your money faster with this. Real jobs pay approximately 4 days after a 2 week cycle ends. The turnover time for me on this is averaging less than a week (from when I win it to when it's in my bank account).

The cost for float on a week or two weeks pay difference is really quite small.

Also, I don't think a $2k - $3k buffer is large enough, depending on on the stakes of the games you play. My best friend's brother is a veteran professional and he always kept a lot more in the bank, even when he was starting up.

As most poker experts will tell you, one of the secrets of poker is having the most money at the table, and playing at a stakes level that is serious for the other players, but not for you. This allows you to play power poker, which in most cases, will win you money in the long term

While playing at a stakes level that makes things REALLY exciting is fun, it's not the best way to make money...

My goal is to play poker and ignore the stakes. I try to think about raises in terms of the big blind and pot size, not in absolutes.

Holy ****. Played a couple of hours earlier and was up 110

Played for an hour from 2-3 am and lost 140$ (was so ****ing pissed at a lot of the beats; most of them were 4 outers or worse on the river after a raise and a reraise on the turn). Then played from 3-3:20 am and made back 150$

Karma, I suppose.

One of them I had the nut flush and the other dude had 2 ****ing low pair. He raised me at the turn with 3 flush cards showing. I reraised him and then so did the guy sitting between me and him (pretty sure that dude had a lower flush than me). He ****ing calls two reraises with a flush possibility showing while sitting on two pair.

So he was calling 4$ with 20$ in the pot on a 4/46 shot of hitting his ****ing two or five ****ing moron.

Well, I played a home game tonight, won $152 (walked with $192, but the buy in was $40). That makes me +$835 for the week.

I think I'll play a bit online - we'll see what happens.

****, bad beat story. I had A7, flop came A-A-10. Got raised $10, I of course called. Turn was a 3. Someone went all in for $100, I of course called. He had A3. Oh well, had to pay that one off.
